goose
Every grand prix mysself and my father ask the same question why doesn't the 3rd place rider in the semi get 1point. This would reward the 3rd place man for beating the 4th. As it stands they leave with nothing?
cheetahsrback
. As it stands they leave with nothing? <{POST_SNAPBACK}> is this the weakest link?
Ace no.5
Goose, I agree, the 3rd place rider in the semis should get an extra point or 2 added to their score...
SCB
Shouldnt the guy in 15th get a point because he beat the guy in 16th?
goose
scb, its comments like that that make me loose interest in this forum periodiclly. what i was talking about was adding a point to the 3rd place riders score as he made more of his semi than the 4th place rider and that could be the differance between qualifing for the gp next year. The riders lower down the order are already separated by their match points.
SCB
Well scrap the semi then! Why should the rider get more? The whole point of the semi is to get to the final, not score points. The riders in the semi are already separated by their race points. My point about the rider in 15th getting a point more than the guy in 16th is surely no less valid than you point that the guy in 3rd in the semi should get a point. No point getting touchy and losing intrest because someone doesn't agree with you! The rider in 3rd place has score 15, he gets a point so has 16 points, thats the same as the guy that comes last in the final, is that fair? Greg Hancock 5 wins, wins max pts & so on. The present farce is like asking Alonso or Rossi to go again after wining a GP.
Ace no.5
SCB, yes, why not? If he's got 15 from 5 races, then he has beaten everybody on the night. And your point about 15th/16th was not valid coz they are already seperated by points gained in the heats and there is not a 'raceoff' situation for that! SteveEvans
Try this as a better idea; Run the 20 heats as we do. Top 3 to final, next 4 to Last Chance race (stops rider who is 8th having equal chance to 1st to make final), winner to final. 2nd in LCQ gets 2 points added, 3rd 1. Final points are 20, 18, 16, 15 Bonus point for top scorer over 2o heats All other riders keep their points as scored
AndyM
I'm well known for hating the semi & final system, but if we have to have a final I'd much sooner go for a system like that, Steve - less chance of an injustice by far.
