Ace no.5
Had to laugh at Ermolenko's comments regarding BV 'not being a good track for Steady to be riding at week in, week out', or words to that effect...! Since coming to BV Steady has now mastered our track and throwing in consistently high scores, home and away! Just coz you can't ride Kirky Lane Sam...! Since coming to BV Steady has now mastered our track and throwing in consistently high scores, home and away! Just coz you can't ride Kirky Lane Sam...!  <{POST_SNAPBACK}>  Riding Kirky Lane week in, week out has obviously done Crumpy a lot of harm!!!  It would be great to see a GP at a track like BV or Wolverhampton, not that it's going to happen. It would make a change from the boring full throttle open venues which dish up pretty poor racing.  Maybe Sam's comments are sour grapes as he could never seem to get around turns three/four at Kirky Lane? Derwent
The problem with Lee Richardson is himself, nothing else. Too ready to blame anything and everything as an excuse for his own poor performances. For example, every GP he says "the track is different from practice" - well it's the same for everyone and the rest seem to find a set-up ok. As long as he carries on making excuses then he'll never get it sorted. Â There's no doubt he's got ability but what he hasn't got is Positive Mental Attitude which is often as important in sport particularly at the highest level. It is his lack of mental strength that means that he will never ever compete consistently at GP level I'm afraid.

robpeasley
Subedei, Â The precedent has already been set over what happens when Rickardsson retires. Hans Nielsen retired at the end of 1999, having finished third in that year's series. His place went to the guy who finished next in the standings (I think it might have been Chris Louis). Â So the man in ninth will qualify automatically. That's if Rickardsson finishes in the top 8, of course!! Â All the best Rob
Squirelnutkins
Lee was absolutely rubbish last night! Five 0s! Dont think anyone has had that in a GP! Oh well! Doubt he will be in it next year!

rabbit
havvy is experienced in speedway, and can certainly help on that side of things, but he's not a psychologist <{POST_SNAPBACK}> Â ...or a miracle worker. You can get everything right with the set-up but at the end of the day it's down to the bloke out on track, and if he ain't got it, he ain't got it. Genesis
If Lee Richardson had the best equipment available to him ( and whose to know that he hasn't anyway), we might see him pull out a decent GP performance once in a while, but the fact is that he is just not as good as the top GP riders and can never produce any consistency to get himself into the next level of GP riders. I really don't see that scenario ever changing. As for Nicholls, I firmly believe that he does have the machinery but just does not have the character, temprement, intelligence or concentration levels to get in with the top 6 or so. He is a vastly experienced rider now, but how many times in GP's have we seen him miss a gate, hit the tapes, over commit to bends and throw himself off etc etc, a really good EL rider but at the top level, for me, he just does not have the mental makeup of a Crump, Hancock, Pedersen etc. As a Brit rider I would love to think he could get that in to his game but I fear it will never be the case. gazmo
I thought Havelock was there to help him with such things <{POST_SNAPBACK}> Â I am unconvinced that Havelock is the best motivator. On occasions he seems to let his head go down when things start to go wrong. What really needs to happen is that when Greg Hancock finally hangs up his helmet he can be persuaded to become Scott's mentor as I rate him the most intelligent and shrewdest rider in the sport. I hoped that Ipswich would have been able to sign him during their dreadful season in 1993 when Scott was carrying the team (I don't think that he ever really recovered from that experience). Leigh Adams would come a close second.

And it wasn't that long ago. In fact, it was at Bydgoszcz last season, when Richardson finished second. Now, name that rider.

AndyM
Machinery? Doubt it. Don't think he was mentally at the races last night. Didn't look like he believed he'd score, so he was beaten before he started. We know he can do much better, but he's also shown he can be his own worst enemy. Quite seriously, I think it's time the lad employed a sports psychologist to overcome his mental block. He's got to believe he can win first.
