John Leslie
Last year I went in a soon as the gates opened(5pm),as I was told that the youngsters would be out early. I hadnt been in my seat for 5mins,and they were off, with only a few people in the arena at the time. They deserved better in my opinion.Ole Olsen was being his usual demonstrative self.Hardly gave them time to do anything. They were all ushered off pretty quick. I hope its better organised better this year. <{POST_SNAPBACK}> I did exactly the same. One of the first in at 5.00pm, less than 5 minutes in my seat before the lads went out. One race each, and then about an hour and half of some crap 'stars-in-their-eyes' wannabees singing crap Abba songs. (And this year we get some washed up old welsh bird). weymouth alicat
HEAT 1 APPROX 5.10-5.15 PM J Auty B Taylor B Hopwood J Roberts HEAT 2 APPROX 5.15-5.20 PM J Haines A Wrathall G Piper B Johnson NO FINAL I too arrived at the gates for 4.55 pm only to be told we could not enter til exactly 5pm.(Once inside you cannot get a pass out).Found the seats and sat down with about 50 others around the whole stadium. Get in early and support the under 15's. <{POST_SNAPBACK}> Should be more like 6.15 and 6-20 and forget Bonnie bloody Tyler
KrisB
Should be more like 6.15 and 6-20 and forget Bonnie bloody Tyler <{POST_SNAPBACK}> The 'entertainment' is a complete joke. You telling me Bonnie Tyler is going to bring more through the gate? Not way, indeed I have always entered the stadium as the gates open but the thought of sitting through 30 minutes of that is making me reconsider! I've put up with Suzie Quatro, Edwin Starr, Tony Hadley, Abba Tribute (missed 2003) and few are interested so the airhorns start-up (though Javine was tasty during the interval in 2004)
Guest PanthersChamp06
If they get music to come to play why dont they get 2 or 3 acts to come on. Something the older people may like, something new and something just pure CRAZY!
Conkers
Thanks for putting the times on the Forum, as last year I sat around the press Office waiting for the Photographers Briefing and missed the U-15s. This year I'm going to try and get to see them, and take some pics if I can. Funny, we have the briefing and never miss the musical act. Najjer
Very Good yesterday the Under 15/16s. Havnt seen Josh Auty since last season at Somerset, and my god he can ride a bike well! (has he become part of Scott Nicholls racing now? Just he had all the same bike covers and Race suit as Scotty) Seems George Piper had bike problems, didnt he have problems last season? Well done all the lads!
BobC
Oooops, placed my thoughts on a different thread! Well done to Brendan(of course!)Great to see you out there. The results were... Ht1..59.50..Joe Haines,Adam Wrathall,Brendan Johnson,George Piper(puncture) Ht2..60.97..Josh Auty,Jack Roberts,Ben Hopwood,Ben Taylor. I fully appreciate the efforts of Peter Oakes to get these races on.He works tirelessly on the lads behalf. He made sure that they were all introduced individually, with an old fashioned(but greatly appreciated),style parade. No helmets, and a little more than walking pace. Some even smiled!! A quiet word with each of the lads before going on track, and raptuorous and enthusiastic applause for their efforts after their race.Encouraging them all the time. I know it was not ideal, and can assure you Peter wasnt happy at messing the lads about. It was out of his control. The best way to pay Peter and the lads back is to pop along to a meeting when they ride at your track,or one near to you. They are the future of British Speedway. Well done to each and every rider for having a go.Im sure they all loved the experience.I did,and certainly wouldnt have missed them. Finally, again, many thanks to Peter Oakes and his sterling efforts to get the Academy up and running, even if it appears that officialdom doesnt always seem to want to help.
