Trees
Have I missed a press release or has it still not yet been decided that the SWC race off and final will be held at Reading?
Mylor
Still provisional Trees............. http://www.speedwayworld.tv/en/swc/a3740 They should be selling tickets and promoting it by now. Perhaps they're more interested in selling British GP tickets for the time being.

Trees
Well when are ultra professional BSI gonna let the world know where the SWC Race Off and Final is going to be held, pretty important for those who intend to fly into GB for the meetings or want to book holiday off etc ................. why not King's Lynn if Reading isn't up to it
Jools
Why not at Peterboro? Got to be better than Reading. Won´t be going in UK though, it is far too expensive compared to the Swedish & Polish prices. We went to Wroclaw last year & the race-off & final tickets combined were cheaper than the first round at home. Rip off BSI! For next year, why don't BSI hold the SWC as a 3 track tournament in Gorican, Krsko & Lonigo. Would be a fantastic weeks holiday & neutral tracks for the main protaganists. GB only do well at home, Poland won in Poland etc etc. Neutral playing field please BSI! Edited May 13, 2006 by Jools

They couldn't charge the same price in Poland as over here, the Poles just don't earn that sort of money, most of them don't anyhow ................ Sandie
Reading's been confirmed now <{POST_SNAPBACK}> Speedway world still showing provisional and nothing I can see on any other site. Sorry to be awkward but where has it been confirmed please?
duncrusadin
Still showing "provisional" today. Imagine the date for any other sport's World Team Championship still only being provisional just over two months before it's due to be staged . People have hotels to book and travel plans to make. Does anyone know why the date can't be firmed up?

Does anyone know why the date can't be firmed up? <{POST_SNAPBACK}> Because Reading can only hold the event if they pull down and make good the old stand on the back straight. Or so we were told 6 months ago. I cant believe that this was the only reason though as surely time has now run out and they cant complete that sort of work n such a short space of time. Another thing that makes Speedway look such a second class sport. Shameful.

Trees
IF it's confirmed, why the heck haven't BSI changed it to confirmed on their website? Don't they want anyone to attend??
jrs
Sadly the choice of Reading. stadium wise, is a sad reflection on Speedway and it's politics in this country. If you are going to present a supposedly prestigious competition to the rest of Europe, then it should be held at a venue that at the very least looks like a stadium, with real terracing and stands and not temporary meccano structures, and one that can provide international visitors with some decent facilities. To my mind of current stadiums only Coventry, Sheffield and possibly Poole should only be considered as possible venues for what is supposed to be the next biggest event in World Speedway after the SGP. Seems like the powers that be want to make speedway even more of a laughing stock in UK sport than it already is. I suppose its a case of you scratch my back and I'll scratch yours. So why not take the event to a real stadium?

Now i've been behind most decisions of bsi's so far as i think they're doing a great job, but this one has baffled me
TR125
My understanding is that the track is still waiting for an FIM track inspection and until this has been done and passed then they cannot confirm because the meeting can only take place on an FIM licenced track.
