Recommended Posts

I hope to be in Poland for the long weekend 15 - 18 June.

Looking to take in the following:

- Unia Tarnów - Apator Toruń on Thursay 15th

- Stal Rzeszów - Unia Leszno on Sunday 18th.

Does anyone know the start times?

Thanks in advance.

Think it's too early as teams don't usually announce start times until approx. two weeks before the meeting at the earliest.

  • 4 weeks later...

Are Polish start times state secrets? Despite emailing the clubs concerned, I've yet to receive any confirmation as to when these two meeetings start.

Torun's website, confirms Champion's post and shows a start time of 7 pm. Yet on the Tarnow website I took this at 4pm CET:

"Do kolejnego ekstraligowego meczu, tym razem z Toruniem, pozostało już tylko

3 dni i 22 godziny"

My Polish isn't that good, but the above appears to suggest that next meeting starts in 3 days and 22 hours time, which by my cacluations makes it 2pm on Thurdsday.

Any help with this and / or the Rzeszów meeting would be much appreciated.

Polsat Sport are screening this match on thursday: Atlas Wrocław – Marma Rzeszów Czwartek, 15 czerwca, 19:30 and it is shown LIVE.

Thank you for that, but I was seeking the start times for the Tarnow / Torun meeting on Thursday, and the Rzeszów / Leszno meeting next Sunday.

Well Mr Snackette, I really hope you've enjoyed tonight's thriller  :D

What a superb meeting. Really enjoyed it. The crowd and atmosphere were fantastic. I think that had Wieslaw Jagus not touched the tapes in heat 14, Torun might just have nicked it.

I did like look of Stanislaw Burza, who appears to have some considerable potential. But for me the highlight was seeing Thomasz and Trick lining up in heat 15, evoking very pleasant memories of Ipswich in 1998.

The meeting itself helped reinforce my view of just how shoddy Elite League speedway is in the UK, which must now be considered a very poor third to both Poland and Sweden.

Hoping that Rzeszów is as good on Sunday, which I understand starts at 6pm.

Thank you Champion for you help with start times, much appreciated.

I'm a little confused here - do you think the racing was better or the standard of riders?

If it's the strength of the league that's a little myth that doesn't seem to be bearing out despite a few naturalised fans over here saying it is.

I recently watched six Swedish meetings on the web and I can't say that the strength of their league is appreciably stronger than the EL either!

Trick is doing better in Poland that he was in the the so-o-o-o weak EL...

Burza scored 12+3 yet is only averaging 8.00 in the PL!!!!

Ales Dryml scored 7+1 - I wonder whether he would in the EL, perhaps we'll see soon.

Miedzinski scored 7 - that's far more than he's managed for Swindon lately.

Of course Trick and Gollob are an awesome spearhead but, overall, the league doesn't look that much stronger to me, despite those with a drum to bang on here insisting that it is.

Just my two pennies....

The Polish League are more on an even level because of the machinery being equal and that most tracks are big and wide. No need to mess with engines. On the coverage I have seen, Polish League is far more better than British Leagues. I team can suffering a hammering and not particular deserve it as they were on the pace.

Don't think it is quite so easy to judge comaprative strengths by looking at how certain riders do in both leagues. If all tracks were similar then ok,but just because Dryml or Miedzinski do better in Poland, doesn't mean the league is weaker, maybe just the track suits them better.Still,if you have enough time on your hands you can go through the leagues and compare all riders, work it all out and come up with statistics to prove something or other.I still like the look of the Swedish and Polish line-ups far more than the most Elite teams :(
