rach
Was banking on the Youth Hostel being free at this short notice but turns out its not! Anyone got any other suggestions ? I know its a long shot but we are prepared to rough it!! Anyone know any carparks in the city centre where we could kip in the car and not be moved on
Gemini
If you don't mind paying the Travel Inn prices it sounds like some fans are going to leave it until the last moment to cancel their rooms as a protest against the price increase. Perhaps they'll let you know.
SCB
Try hotels in Newport, only a 10 minute train ride away and you'll also have the fun of squashing onto a train with hundreds of other speedway fans after the meeting.

bananas
I think my mums still got a room at the Cardiff West Travel Inn that she plans on cancelling as late as possible coz she protests that the price went up £20 (don't blame her!!) and we're now staying in Bristol somewhere and doing Park and Ride. I think she's going to cancel it on the day so I'll try and get the phone number for you and if you phone up on the morning there may be some rooms suddenly become available!!!!! I don't blame you if you don't wanna leave it that late though!!
shazzybird
It's ok having your little tantrums holding onto bookings and then cancelling rooms as near to the Cardiff date as possible, spare a thought though for the fans that REALLY want to go and are now struggling because rooms are being held onto with no intention of being used. It's not the hotels you are hurting as they have increased their prices accordingly, it's the other fans.
Markone
I agree! Also like i said why hold on then cancel only to give it to someone else, makes no sense? The room is paid for by someone else so the hotel does not loose out! Additionally, everybody now knows about it as its been on a national forum! So folk will be on the phone as soon as deadline approaches and snap them up! Or , am i missing something?

Maybe we could get in contact and you could switch the names on the booking or something? Please, we are desperate and willing to pay up to £80-90 for the night. <{POST_SNAPBACK}> Make your mind up Rach either you want a freebie or you are willing to pay

Gemini
Would that not defeat the point of the original protest? Or was your tongue in your cheek? <{POST_SNAPBACK}> Well, I don't agree with the protest anyway. If someone doesn't want to pay the inflated prices then the least they can do is cancel early and give someone else a chance of the room/s. Afraid it's just a fact of life - if there is a demand prices will go up. Same with holidays when the schools break up. I think my mums still got a room at the Cardiff West Travel Inn that she plans on cancelling as late as possible coz she protests that the price went up £20 (don't blame her!!) and we're now staying in Bristol somewhere and doing Park and Ride. I just hope it's not going to cost your Mum £10 each way getting to and from Bristol to Cardiff! Edited May 9, 2006 by Gemini
