Grachan
That is interesting. Thanks Conkers. Jimmy is certainly the best (only??) known rider here in the West due to that Internationale appearence. I think that the tracks had already changed to asphalt by then, and he was one of the veterens of the dirt track days. Interesting, also, that Funabashi (oneof the tracks I attended) was once a conventional dirt track Speedway.

Dutch
I am just new on this forum, but found some interesting links with information about Japanese speedway. http://www.superbikeplanet.com/2005/Jan/050111k.htm http://internet-tv.co.jp/sports/autorace/out.html Today everybody in Japanese speedway is riding with Suzuki engines, the SEAR 500 (for the rookies) and the 600cc engine for the Pro's What engines are used in the pasts? Thanks for the link Dutch! <{POST_SNAPBACK}> maybe another nice link for the ones interested in Japanese speedway is; http://mrkazuoh.hp.infoseek.co.jp/ this is a site about amateur speedway riding in Japan riding on much smaller tracks, but it looks very much like the Pro's. even the machines looking very professional, but the engines are from 80 to 125cc and made by Honda.
