2ndBender
Thanks Old Saint and 2ndBender. If Cardiff is in South Glamorgan then what you've said is correct. The full address is Gwaelod-y-Garth, Cardiff. I don't think it can be too far from Cathedral Road or I wouldn't have booked it - perhaps 5 - 7 miles? It says on the description "We are equidistant (Yes, I know what it means now as I've just looked it up!) between the Radyr/Taffs Well turn off and the Upper Boat turn-off - on the opposite side of the valley from Taff Well." I fully expect us to get completely lost once we get off the M4, hence my doubt that we will be going to Newport this year. <{POST_SNAPBACK}> OK, now I know where you are and unfortunately you're a good distance from the Hayley Stadium, (maybe about 18 miles). Basically, the kennels are just off the A470, a major, busy dual carriageway trunk road, which you get to by leaving the M4 at Junction 32 and heading North. To get back, take the A470 to J32, take the M4 (East) to J24, then the A455 in the general direction of the Stadium. If you decide you have time and want to do this, let me know and I'll give you more detailed directions once you get on the A455 - it's pretty straightforward. You have confirmed we need junction 32 which I am pretty sure we have always used before, although the AA Route says to get off at junction 29 and pick up the A470 a bit further up (or down!). If we do have time to get to Newport I am determined this year that we don't go by mistake into the retail park, which we've done pretty much every time so far. All my husband's fault of course because he does the navigating.

Ross
Hi All, Going to Cardiff for the 1st time, any suggestions on parking ?? is it a nightmare to get out of cardiff or is that just when the stadium is full?
SCB
The traffic out of Cardiff is terrible. Might be better parking in Newport (car park opposite the train station does not close until 1.30) and getting a train to Cardiff. From memory it's about £3 for a return ticket and £4.50 for upto 24 hours in the car park. Whe you consider the Cardiff car park is twice as much anyway...... At least by the time you get onto the M4 people have started to settle down a little and they should be moving constantly so no infuriating tapping on the steering wheel and trying to see if the traffic is moving ahead! Either that, or park in Cardiff and try and avoid the motorway as far back as Newport, probably not the cleverest idea. I'd also suggesting being a little weary of the A449/M50 route (basically for midlands and up north) on the way home as there are road works on the A449 just before Monmouth where the road is down to 1 lane, both times when I have gone up to Coventry in the last month I have been stuck in traffic there. It MIGHT be better to stick to the M4 and come off at the M5 and go up that way (it's not as if you have to pay for the bridge to get back into England, or else nobody would leave). Add a few miles to the journey (but in the grand scheme of things it's very little, about 8 miles I think) but could save you an hour. Anyone know where I can buy airhorns online? The Newport trakc shop has closed, only other option is to go and by a electric pump and a battery, which actually might not be such a bad idea! Chivs
Ross If we are travelling back we have always parked in Newport - there is a shopping centre over the road from the Newport train station. I think it cost about 3.50 return to cardiff - much easier when you come out the stadium and also cuts out a decent bit of the M4.

lora
With the World cup coming up, there are also air horns cheaper then normal on Ebay. They all have England on them not Wales though SCB...
