Gollob to quit GP series?

Recommended Posts

Post from another website with quotes from Tomasz.

'I feel cheated, hurt and I am seriously considering whether there is a

sense in continuing with the GP - Tomasz Gollob told the Polish press.

I have done no wrong at Cardiff, and yet Mike Posselwhite threw me out of

competition - said very bitter Gollob. He took away any chances I still had

to win. There was no foul play from my part but anyone could see that the

referee was giving blind eye to Danish foul starts, that he excluded

Jonssson for no reason. Why Posselwhite was helping Rickardsson and

obstructing (interfering with) Gollob. It hurts !

Preparing for the GP cost a lot of money. In order to win you have invest

even more money. Riders pay for air fair, accommodation, engines, bikes etc, but the "rewards" are pegged at the same level as many years ago. And when on top of that the referee is bluntly bias I am entitled to feel fed up and seriously considering my options - said Tomasz Gollob.'

I think that there is a certain amount of truth in some of the comments that he has made.

Any thoughts?

I felt Tomasz was harshly excluded. I also felt he handled the situation far more sensibly and maturely than he once would have. As we all know, the ref wasn't going to change his decision which ever way Tomasz reacted. We're all seeing a different Gollob this season and good luck to him. Lets hope he doesn't pull out because without Gollob, Hamill and all the injured riders the GP just ain't right.

I agree with what Gollob is saying. And I do have a lot of sympathy for him - the ref was shocking on Saturday. I wouldn't be surprised if he did drop out of the GPs but I do not think it can be totally put down to Saturday.

I think there is a growing realisation in Tomasz that he has peaked and will never win the title (which is what he is in it for - also-ran just doesn't suit the guy).

Reading his interview in the Speedway Star, it also seems like this is a more mature and contented man now and pehaps his hunger is on the wane. For 2004, I would be surprised if Tomasz was still part of the series. Same goes for Mark Loram too.

Where we were sat, right above the pit entrance, one of the ref's :?: In black/white shirt, phoned the referee from the pit phone, as we were watching the main screen to see Mr Posselwhites' reaction, he seemed to just cancel the call rather than answer it :!: Maybe he knew he had made a harsh decision, but couldn't go back on it once it had been made.

It wasn't Gollobs day

They screwed up the program, anyone notice the action shot of Greg Hancock on Tomasz's page :-(

They screwed up the presentation, getting confused with Ronni, Greg and Tomasz :-(

Then he gets excluded in a very iffy decision :-(

No wonder he feels the way he does

The trouble is the referee has had a stinker, he just goes off and refs another meeting, makes no difference to his career ambitions but the decision has probably cost Tomasz his 2003 crack at becoming World Champion!!

Tomasz seems disillusioned with the GP series full stop, especially on these one-off tracks and I really don't blame him, they are crap and dangerous to race on!!!

i don't blame Gollob having that attitude, after all we used to say about the ref's that they don't have that benefit of replays.... well now they do so there is not really the excuses.

I thought Gollob was harshly excluded, but even more clear cut was Andreas Jonsson being excluded. He was in front of Rickardsson and therefore had the race, TR just tried cutting back and came unstuck.

A lot of points won and lost in those two decisions alone.

Me and my husband must have seen it different to the rest of you. We were sitting six rows from the top right in the middle of the first and second bends. Before the ref even said Gollob excluded we both said that is Gollob out we deffinetly saw Gollob nudge Ronnie Pedersens back wheel and that made him fall and to me that is an exclusion. We both said the same about Jonsson taking Rickardson out before the ref said anything. I think Gollob totally over reactted to the incident.

I have to agree with jblanch69.....the referee imo got both decisions badly wrong.

However we are all human and all make mistakes. It tends to balance itself out over the length of a career-riders just dont make a big fuss when it goes their way!

Andreas handled it correctly and Tomasz seemed to at the time too. The decision was made-it wasn't going to be changed and theres no point making a song and dance about it now imo

Put Gollob on the Bydgoscz track and everyone will be saying how wonderful he is. I don't think these man made tracks help him at all and he is probably more frustrated at these tracks which in turn lead him to falling foul of the referee. I don't think Benfield can afford to lose Gollob as he is someone who will always give a talking point whether on track or Off track. He will stay I'm sure of that :):):)
