Polish trains are ok - cheap and quite reliable. Travelling may be tiring on long distances but from Poznan to Wroclaw it's around 2.5 hours so don't worry.

Hopefully Rico will answer to this question..

It's all a matter of choosing a proper tram. As I remember (not always been drunken in Wroclaw  ) you can get from the railway station to the stadium in one tram.

Some maps I found typing "mapa Wroclawia" in google:

Hopefully Rico will answer to this question.

Don't think I have actually flown into Poznan MK, Papa B most certainly has and I am sure he will come up with a definitive answer. The Poznan Airport site suggests it is only 7km to the city centre, so it shouldn't be too much in a taxi, but there is the option of a couple of buses listed on the site.

The train station is literally a 10 minute cab ride (although when we did it in 2004 they were rebuilding the road and it took a fair while longer)

Just ask the taxi driver to take you to "the PKP" and you'll be fine.

Hope this helps

Thanks people,

I would of normally flown direct to Wroclaw but the return flight on Sunday is too late for me to get back so I am trying Poznan instead as it is an earlier flight (and it's cheaper) :D

I take it the PKP is the train company/station

How expensive or cheap are the taxis? and are they always readily available and reliable? The biggest fear is that I have got to get back to Poznan from Wroclaw on sunday morning and don't want to miss my flight

Yes, PKP is the Polish Railway System, and I've always asked to be taken to "the PKP", and the taxi driver has known what I mean.

In all of our travels in Poland, taking a taxi has always been cheap enough not to worry about, although they do like to think they're Fernando Alonso ! The most I've ever had to pay was from Warsaw Train Station to Warsaw Airport (about 15kms) and that was about 70 Zloty (£12)

Taxis in Poland are either very swish Mercs or beaten up LPG converted FSO Polonez ( but don't expect to get anyhting in the boot ) - travel in style !

Alternatively leap out of the aircraft on final approach - you go right over Poznan Glowny station.

Seriously, Poznan, Gdansk, Wroclaw, Bydgoszcz all do-able from Airport to local central station via taxi. Poznan as well has a bus service.

If they were doing that in 2004, it is very possible they're still doing it :P:wink:

Concerning Taxi, the price of the ride depends on the Taxi you take, some of them are more expensive and some of them are really cheap. It all depends on the Taxi company, not necessary on the way the car looks

Dont try climbing over the sides of the barrels this time

The day I take behavioural lessons from you in Wroclaw will be the day I give up GP jaunts But yes you have a valid point !!
Now I know why we are having an MSN convo about you wanting to go to Wroclaw!!!

Angry ?? Can understand Nikki wanting to go back, it's such a brilliant place.
Seems so surreal considering it's still goddamn f*$%en snowing/pissing and damn cold here.
Lovely day here Tommy :P , the sun is shining and it is very pleasant indeed. You get worse winters there, but better summers. Can't have it all.
ps. can't wait tho  :P

7 weeks today till we fly out to Krakow, but hey who's counting !!

It is looking fairly positive if the news story on Speedwayworld.tv is correct, which I have no reason to doubt.

THE Polish Motor Federation have decided that ten teams will be allowed to compete in the Second Division. Three clubs are from abroad.

Speedway Centr Daugavpils, Miskolc Speedway SE and Ukraina Rowne are those three teams. The precedent was set in 2004, when Lvov from Ukraine were invited to compete in Polish Division. Since then clubs, especially from Eastern countries, are very keen to ride in Poland. Not all Polish speedway authorities stand by this idea, due to high travel costs.

Teams from Gdansk and Krakow were also granted a license to ride in the Second Division in 2006. This is a controversial decision, as this second club goes bankrupt almost every season…
