AmberCelt
Chris Slabon - Canadian?
Puma23
Chris Slabon is polish rider.
speedyguy
I think you will find that Chris Slabon was born of Polish parents in Canada and did in fact start his speedway career there around the mid to late 1990s. He came to Europe to further his speedway career - did he have trials with Ipswich at one time? - but then moved on to join a Polish club. Puma23
He has got double nationality (polish-canadian).
speedyguy
Two more pre-1939 Canadian riders. Harold Blain - probably at Birmingham around 1937. Fred Belliveau - Wembley and Stoke 1939?
cyclone
Doug & Bob Serrurier , Fred Wills(South Africa) who rode @ Liverpool 1949/50, Buddy Fuller )South Africa) who rode @ Hastings & Liverpool, Roy Bester (Rhodesia) Edinburgh 1954, Arthur Duncan (S Africa) Birmingham 1956. <{POST_SNAPBACK}> Three more South Africans: Toby Boshoff Bob Quick Fred Wills <{POST_SNAPBACK}> Copycat ! BTW has anyone mentioned South African Fred Lang who rode Wembley Lions in 1954 as well as the same named team in his homeland
SCB
Chris Slabon always rode with Candian livery bikes, he also always rode in World Championship rounds as a Canadian, obviously its easier than riding as a Pole a she is guarenteed a slot as the top Canadian. I know I consider him more Canadian than Polish, but then I consider Andy Smith British and Rune Holta Norweigan.

Bavarian
It is definitely Bevan Compton of South Africa, who rode for Berwick a few years ago, but not Benji, who is English. Pip Harris, never rode in the British League ! (And he is Rhodesian, not South African)
Bavarian
And Roy Bester, ex-Edinburgh and Leicester, is SOUTH AFRICAN, not Rhodesian !

cyclone
And Roy Bester, ex-Edinburgh and Leicester, is SOUTH AFRICAN, not Rhodesian ! <{POST_SNAPBACK}> Quite correct - put it down to creeping senility . I got mixed up with Bert Clark who rode with Bester @ Edinburgh in 1954. Clark was a Scotsman who emigrated to Rhodesia and took up Speedway there & returned to Scotland to ride for the Monarchs. I don't know if he became a naturalised Rhodesian however.
