FIM Speedway Grand Prix Series (SGP) announced today a new four year contract

with Millennium Stadium Plc to host the FIM British Speedway Grand Prix until 2006 (inclusive).

The new agreement guarantees four British Grands Prix - including this

Saturday's (14 June) FIM Fiat Vans British Speedway Grand Prix - will be staged at Britain's number one sporting venue.

Commenting on the deal, John Postlethwaite, Chief Executive, Benfield Sports International, said:

"The FIM British Speedway Grand Prix at the Millennium Stadium is our flagship event and sets the standard for all our other Grands Prix. We are delighted to have finally agreed this new contract and look forward to continuing the great relationship we have with the Stadium and also the City of Cardiff, who have always welcomed us, and our international supporters, with open arms since we originally moved the event to the Millennium Stadium back in 2000.

Postlethwaite concludes: "I have always said that we are here for the long term at Cardiff and not as a matter of convenience and this is proof of our

intention."

Paul Sergeant, General Manager, Millennium Stadium commented:

"It's a fantastic boost for both the stadium and the city that we have secured a world championship sporting event for another three years. The agreement also reinforces our commitment to attract and hold international sporting events at Britain's number one sporting stadium.

"The FIM Speedway Grand Prix is one of our most prestigious and exciting

events. The crowd has grown each successive year and with the transformation of the stadium it brings its own totally unique atmosphere that almost lifts the Stadium's roof!"

Tickets are still on sale for this Saturday's event and will also be available

on the day from the Millennium Stadium Ticket Office, Tel: 08705 582 582
