home straight
And........?I'm confused! <{POST_SNAPBACK}> Please accept my total and utter sincerest apologies, I don't really know why, but for the last couple of months I've been labouring under the impression that NKI was riding for Reading this year. I am mortified by my own ignorance
Subedei
NKI is in Peterborough's line-up home straight (ignore that, you noticed). But it's a little obvious that Janusz Kolodziej is hoping that riding for Reading will give him a little help in getting into the GPs. iris123
Done! Can happen to us all. Don't be led on by subedei,he see's reds under the bed, conspiracy's everywhere! Firstly the Poles seem to be running a proper meeting to decide who gets their nominations for the GP's.If Kolodziej doesn't make it,tough! Also it has to be mentioned that Gjedde has been overlooked for the Danish nominations,so...... Let's not forget that Reading used to hold WTC events and it isn't some sleepy coastal village, but nicely placed for London journo's Edited February 19, 2006 by iris123
superguest
good point they will more than likley try and switch the british GP soon to <{POST_SNAPBACK}> or have
Subedei
If Kolodziej doesn't make it,tough! As I understand it, from next season the top 8 will qualify for 2007 (which means 7 riders since Rickardsson will be gone). Then three will qualify via the qualification system, which adds up to ten, leaving BSI with five "picks" for 2007.
home straight
Let's not forget that Reading isn't some sleepy coastal village<{POST_SNAPBACK}> Slanderous. In all seriousness though I tend to believe that apart from the top 8, the rest of the GP places should be filled by qualifiers. I really don't like the notion of somebody selecting who gets to race for the world championship. Having said that, on the evidence of my previous posts on this thread, I clearly can't be taken seriously.

Subedei
I think both Tomasz Gollob and Jaroslaw Hampel will be in the top 8. The interesting thing then is if two Poles are among the three that come through the qualifiers.
Canadian Star
I don't particularly mind that the meeting is planned for Reading, it's just that it seems so biased that suddenly now BSI (Bull**** International) operate Reading, the World Cup miraculously moves there. I know Reading had the world cup many years ago, the meetings weren't bad other than the fact that the track was often slick, which seemed to suit the opposition more than the host nation. A similar situation occured at Coventry, and although the Kings Lynn track suited the riders, i accept the location was hardly central for most supporters. It seems to me that the 2 best venues for this meeting would be Poole or Sheffield, or Peterboro as a third, can't really see why it has been changed other than to make money for the new Reading promotion. These events are "shared" but staging has its "benefits".

philfromcov
i wish people would stop slagging bsi off, at least they have transformed the GP's and the world cup into fast exciting events, left to the bspa what would have happened? no wtc, maybe a grand prix at a boring normal track. sometimes you need to sit back and see what they have done, how quickly we forget whos idea cardiff was? from a business point of view, it was probably cheaper to buy the reading outfit than rent say poole, or coventry for that matter, perhaps the bspa were trying to spong too much off without contributing too much! at the end of the day the majority of th bspa stadiums are rubbish tips run by a bunch of dodgy used car salesman. im not saying bsi are perfect, but for god sake they have brought glamour and a bit more exposure to the sport, something the bspa wouldnt have a clue how to start! Bees_Man
Taken from the CET : * COVENTRY have turned down the chance to host both the race-off and final of the 2006 Speedway World Cup. John Postlethwaite, chief executive of BSI, the rights holders of the SWC, wanted to stage the meetings at Brandon, but Bees were unable to accommodate the final on Saturday July 22 because of greyhound commitments. They offered either Friday, July 21, or Sunday, July 23, but the TV scheduling requires the meeting to be staged on Saturday. It is now set to take place at Reading, the new Elite League track acquired by BSI during the winter.

The BSPA did the deal with SKY to show EL of course, nowt to do with BSI. It's league racing that really counts ..........

Trees
thats russel brought sky to el not bspa! As, what is his title, president, of the BSPA If he did all the negotiations then I guess he was entitled to take his cut, he's put a good bit back into the sport too, he's not all bad is he??? Well I LIKE the idea of it being in Reading. Poole is not exactly convenient for everyone is it... No it certainly isn't! I really like the WTC competition, can't cut off my nose to spite my face for the race off and final at Reading IF it's held there Edited February 20, 2006 by Trees

A very fair comment Trees. At the time I did think TR's percentage was fairly high, but as you point out, he has ploughed a lot of money back into the sport, and in some cases without any publicity - as you say, he's not all bad.
