Subject to stadium approval. Whilst I dont think Reading is suitable this year I wish they would just get on and confirm it without any 'subject to' rubbish. Chris Brown
Just looked back as I remember this being posted some time ago. In fact it was 7 December and interestingly was rubbished at the time. So just why has it taken so long to announce. Can't wait to see the faces of people turning up at the old dung heap for a World Final. I reckon they'll all head off to the Madjeski thinking it must be there rather than in some ramshackled old wooden dump. Flies against everything BSI have tried to do with the GP series by taking it to capital cities and fine stadia.
Subedei
Flies against everything BSI have tried to do with the GP series by taking it to capital cities and fine stadia. But they've more or less given up on that as well. Only Cardiff and Copenhagen remain from that experiment. That said, Czestochowa's stadium is being redeveloped and the plans look very impressive. Pards Ex Dogs Body
As said on other forums it all depends on if the back straight is open. B S I have asked the stadium owners (Stadia U K ) to take the roof of the back straight stand. One more point..................IF B S I had gone 20 or so miles north and bought Poxford.........Given them a great team............Plenty of media exposia.................Raise the profile of the club 100%.......................Given them the world final................Etc Etc Etc the list goes on.................Would the Poxford fans be whining then.................... newbieoldboy
My oppinion is have it at Kings Lynn - Great track <{POST_SNAPBACK}> It is, but its about bums on seats as well and Lynn isn't quite as close to Heathrow as Reading. Reading staged some great WTC rounds in the past. Like Poole, Swindon and a well prepaired Oxford track it is fair, no weird shapes and if Ole Olsen does the track it dosn't matter where it is it will have as much grip on it as my head! but again its close to Heathrow, and with the Mad Stad carpark next door parking will be easy for everyone. And most will be - I guess - flying "no thrills" and coming into Stanstead. And Kings Lynn have also organised WTC rounds in the past. Stay Alive Folks Si. <{POST_SNAPBACK}> So B.S.I. have asked the Stadium Owners to take the roof of the back straight stand. Correct me if I'm wrong, but didn't someone on this thread just say that they ( B.S.I.) wanted to take all the High Profile meetings to Capital Cities or high profile venues. Well in my opinion I don't think that Smallmead fits the bill somehow. Of course once the roof has been taken off the back straight stand, everything will be alright I presume. I seem to remember saying on another thread, with a similar theme, that it was a Shambles, and from what I keep hearing I cannot change my mind. Has anyone mentioned the seat prices that will be charged at this HIGH PROFILE VENUE. Maybe there will be reduction if you have to sit in the OPEN AIR STAND. Kevin Meynell
IF B S I had gone 20 or so miles north and bought Poxford. Would the Poxford fans be whining then.................... Poxford (sic) wouldn't be a suitable venue for a World Final either.
Kevin Meynell
But they've more or less given up on that as well. I think they've pretty much given-up on the SWC. From quite decent start, it's now back to the way the old WTC was, with every round held in a different country, and Finals held in the middle-of-nowhere (more-or-less). jasper wasp
Poxford (sic) wouldn't be a suitable venue for a World Final either. <{POST_SNAPBACK}> WELL AT LEAST OXFORD IS 100PER CENT BETTER THAT READING.STADIUM.
Chris Brown
Poxford (sic) wouldn't be a suitable venue for a World Final either. <{POST_SNAPBACK}> I agree Oxford is no place for a World Final either but holding it at Reading is taking the mickey to be honest. The seating is wooden benches and the terracing is a grass bank and their idea of improvments is to take the roof off a condemned stand. OK, if the new stadium gets built and its up to a decent standard then of course it would be potentially good to take it there but to go to Smallmead is a joke and shows the guy is taking the mickey out of British Speedway. Just my opinion

Astra1
At least you will be able to see the racing at Reading. when i went to Poole for the WTC i couldn`t see a thing. we were stood on the 1st bend and by the time the stadium had filled up i was swamped by people pushing to get to the front and i had to make do with catching a glimpse of the riders helmet covers as they went past
Gemini
Pity it can't be held at Coventry then everyone would be able to see okay as the stadium holds 20,000 or more. But I suppose the dogs have priority these days.

Just my opinion <{POST_SNAPBACK}> Actually I can't argue with any of that Chris. I admit it's great for the Reading supporters, but for the sport of speedway it's a massive step back on all of what BSI have been preaching the past few years.
