RichieEarl
Hi everyone... Right this is my first visit to a Cardiff GP so i need a few pointers! 1. We will be driving to Cardiff from the Reading area straight down the M4. I was thinking about leaving on Friday night and kipping in the car and then making the most of the day in Cardiff. But also i thought rather than having "crook neck" i may just drive down Saturday morning. Is there going to be bucket loads of traffic on the M4 at say about 9ish? 2. Is the Millennium Stadium near the city centre? 3. Am I going to be able to leave the car somewhere all day? any ideas as to where? 4. What time should I aim to get in the stadium? Obviously I want to be in there in plenty of time to soak up all the atmosphere etc etc but what sort of time is realistic? 5. Are camera’s allowed in the stadium? 6. Are air horn’s allowed in the stadium? 7. Where is everyone having a preGP drink? [ I will be wearing a Trelawny Black JKT and the GF a Blue Wulfsport Speedway JKT in case you want to say Hi ] err I think that is it for now! I thank anyone who can help (and buy me a pint!). If I have forgotten anything then I will be back!! Thanks Rich
Joanne
Hi Richie I will try and answer some of your questions. 1. The trouble with staying in the car is that at alot of service stations are now limited to 2 hours now unless you pay of course. The traffic over the other side of the bridge in Wales isn't half as bad as the London area. Should be nice and quiet about 9ish. 2. Yes, the Millenium Stadium is in the centre. 3. For parking, see this http://www.millenniumstadium.com/vsite/vco...ws-item,00.html 4. Not too early. Better just to follow everyone else unless your feet are sore of course. 5. Yes 6. Yes, but don't point it at my daughters ears or she'll give you the look 7. Looks like Sams Bar at 2pm and then the Prince of Wales. See you there
full-throttle
if your lucky like i was last year you wil find a street with no parking restrictions only minutes walk from the stadium, it took us half an hour to find it, but it was free. 21st century heathen
You can't miss the stadium because it's right in the middle of the city. One piece of advice though. Going in to the stadium fairly early makes it a damn sight easier to get to your seat. No need to climb over everyone as you would by going in about half hour before it starts. I'd say go in a couple of hours before, and you'll see the place fill up. The noise gets progressively louder, and you can feel the atmos building. Easiest way to park is to follow everyone else, or follow signs to the park and ride. I would suggest at least 2/3 refills for your air horns. Oh, and if you have sensitive ears then some ear defenders wouldn't go amiss. Don't think you'll be wearing your jacket mate. Weather forecast for Sat in Cardiff. Clear blue sky, light SE breeze, sun index 12, p.m. temps reaching 100F for the first time (officially) in the UK. Maybe you could carry a red rose instead?
