Graham could conceivably get 5 pts from the first 2 rides which would put him in a good position. Then he just needs to keep picking up a point or 2 here and there.Lets hope so :D Will be interesting to see how Nikulin and Tschatschin go.And if Holstein gets a chance, how he goes in this sort of class.

I do hope the Russian riders aren't used in some battle for power, but it seems the fans will miss out on seeing some of the best riders in the world, whoever riders :(

I just got a message that both of the Khomitsevitses are at Kuusankoski, and were refused the permission to ride at practice. They werent happy.

I think I'll know more tomorrow.

Edit: I'm seriously doubting my own comment here, but like I said, more tomorrow...

Of course we don't know yet how the meeting went, but a bit surprised at Grahams placing. And that of Saifutdinovs.I heard Bulankin had a fall yesterday in training, which might explain that one

Heat by heat details can now be seen here :D

6 Per Anders Lindstrom (2 2 2 2 1) 9

I think I've spotted the mistake - in the Speedway.org scorechart, Lindstrom is shown as M (which I assume is Mechanical breakdown but I may be wrong) so his score reads 2,M,2,2,1 but he finishes with 9 - so he may be the Ht 17 winner as Gartmann is shown secind in Ht 5 where Lindstrom is shown 2nd in the above chart.

Damn I'm slow. Well the meeting finished 5 hrs ago... But G. Halsall was happy with his performance. He gated well but on the backstraight others went from left and right. He's heading towards Austria from here. He also said that internationally this was it.

Posa was the best today, hit a rut in the final while leading and had to let Aakko and Drozdev go. More tomorrow...

Final: Drozdov, Aakko, Serenius, Bulankin N 58,06

Serenius was above the rest in all areas. He had the style, look and speed. Bulankin took a spill in practise and hurt himself enough to not take his ride in the final. Serenius was leading it, but almost fell of on the 3rd lap.

I asked Drozdov about the politics, he said that it was not his nor the riders problem. Riders get along well with each other. But you can understand the frustration in D. Khomichevits: His team drove for 47 hrs straight to not ride @ Kuusankoski. One thing I forgot to ask was who made the decision on behalf of each rider which fed/club they're gonna ride for this season?

The ice looked awful with groove's 4 inches deep, but I have now learned that it doesn't matter. The temperature is more important, and how "flexible" the ice is. And on that aspect it was perfect. So I wont ask stupid questions about the track anymore when ice racing is concerned! :D

I've heard the clubs make the decision which federation they ride for and the riders have to go with that. The one club that seems to have the best of both worlds at the moment is Saransk.Their riders have been in both competitions.Even though they rode in the NRMF Russian final they have been nominated by the MFR for the WC.Well the GP is being held there so they have to really.Still wonder if there will be trouble ahead and particularly at Saransk

One thing I picked up is that this new fed that is driven forward by Slava Fetisov (ex- hockey star) is not sanctioned by FIM. I personally find it very difficult to believe that it would become sanctioned while the season is on...

Then again this is speedway...

Thats right, but it is sanctioned by the Russian sports council(minister) to hold all National motorsports events. So really they have theright to hold all Russian championships. Also heavily involved is ex-Ice speedway rider,Vitali Russkich, who was thrown out of the MFR because of financial irregularities. So we have one federation that is sactioned by the Russians and one by FIM

Also, more to my theory that there will be trouble ahead, according to a report in a german motorsport magazine, both Krasnogorsk and Saransk have alligned themselves with the NRMF and so there is currently no venue for the Semi or the GP in Russia.Thought there might be something up as Saransk didn't send a team to the Russian Junior Championship at the weekends, though one was expected. This is not concrete of course.
