tarabanko
Rune Holta has been threathened to life of Czestochawa fans as he has left the Lions after 7 years for Stal Rzeszow. f-s-p
I'm sure tarabanko could have done this better... Something about that some of his fans dont understand why he's moving after seven years at Chesthowa. He's been their captain and number one scorer recently. He had to shut down his guestbook at his homepage because of the threatening messages. He's taking his mechanics and manager with him to Reszow, which is good, because the manager is 2 meters tall and can act as his lifeguard. He says Reszow is a promising club with good juniors and future, and he needed new challenges.

Subedei
So, Marta Poltorak made him an offer he couldn't refuse? Think I'd struggle to refuse her as well actually.

tommy
Thnx FSP. There's no news regarding any threats towards Rune in the polish media, that why I'm curious to know what the article says. So, Marta Poltorak made him an offer he couldn't refuse? Think I'd struggle to refuse her as well actually. Well, seems Marta is "charming" more and more riders into her "nest" . Subedei
Anyway, tommy here's the link to Holta's "guest book". A lot of the posts are in Polish, but that'll not be a problem for you. http://www.holta-racing.com/module.php?pag...page=1&lang=eng Edited January 6, 2006 by Subedei
garf
I have tried to translate the article. There might be mistakes due to small differencies in the Norwegian and Danish languages, but I think it will do. Here it is : Holta receives death threats Rune Holta has changed club. In the ”Speedway-mad” Poland this is not done un-punished. Øyvind Ellingsen Tuesday Rune Holta signed for his new Polish club, Rzeszow. It was not liked by his faithfull supporters in Czestochowa. Closed the homepage - I have been in Czestochowa in seven years and it was time to get new impulses and challenges. But it has not been easy, Rune Holta says to Aftenbladet. The 32 year old has been the captain on Czestochowass speedwayteam for the last few years. He has been the best collector of points for the team too and was last year SWC champion with the Polish flag on the chest. Holta has double nationality and has both Polish passport and drivers license. - Here in Poland the interest of speedway is huge, and many supporters have been sad that I changed club. And some threats there have been as well, Holta says. He had to close his guestbook on his homepage. There were to many threats and to many unserious postings. - The majority of my supporters are reasonable people who have undersanding for the club-change. But a few has taken it extra sad, Holta says. He takes both his Polish manager and his mechanics with him to Rzeszow. Then it is a very good thing that the manager Robert Geziarz is a bear of almost 2 meters – who can act as bodyguard too. The club change can in many ways be compared to if the Viking-capain Brede Hangeland should change to Brann. (Norweigan footy, I think) Rzeszow like Vetlanda - I can’t take all the threats seriously but it is far from an ideal good situation I’m in, Holta says in the phone from Poland. He is about to arrange a “farewell-party” for his Polish sponsors in the city Czestochowa. - The main reason why I choose to change to Rzeszow was that they have one mainsponsor- and one boss. The organization is much like in my Swedish club Vetlanda, Holta says. In Vetlanda it is a big window producer who is the mainsponsor. In Poland it is a big plasticfactory that owns the speedwayclub. Rzeszow has moved up into the Polish elite-league, and is ”gambling freshly” with Rune Holta and the Danish former World Champion as the only non-Polish riders. Two mile from Ukraina - The club has the 2 most promishing juniors in the stable and this is going to be very important next year. A change of the rules do that all clubs must at least have 2 Polish juniors in the Line-up. We have a big advantage here, but our aim for the season is only to get established in the Eliteleague, Randaberg-karen says. Rzeszow lies close to the Ukrainian Border. The neares airport lies in Krakow. - It is going to be quite a long drive for my mechanics, from Rzeszow to Sweden every second Sunday. But it will do, Holta says and laugh. Racing in 4 countries, Sweden, Denmark,Poland and Hungary, he is used to travelling and airports.
AndyM
If he's received death threats in Poland, perhaps that might persuade him to take out UK citizenship and ride in the EL on an ACU licence? Sure Arena would find room for him.

tommy
Thanx for the translation Garf! Rune never mentioned that to the Polish media. If he feels his life is being threatened he should report this to the police. Officialy his reason for leaving Czestochowa is that Sebastian Ulamek is on the team. Leliwa
Well, this seems to be one of the reasons but not the only one. During the press conference last Monday, which was suppose to be a nice farewell event in Czestochowa, Rune said few things rather unplesant toward the management. Among other things, he also said that he had just one condition for resigning with Czestochowa, and it was getting rid of one of the riders on the team, everybody assumed that he meant Ulamek. As for the threats. How come Rune is meeting with fans in Czestochowa when he feels his life might be threaten? Just the other day he had the meeting with fans, presenting some prizes to winners of a competiton of sorts. I mean, he was talking with averybody on friendly bases. In fact, a lot of fans in Czestochowa blame team management rather that Rune for his departure.
Paragon
Perhaps someone should tell Rune that Rzeszow has its own Airport
PolskiZuzel
During the press conference last Monday, which was suppose to be a nice farewell event in Czestochowa, Rune said few things rather unplesant toward the management. Among other things, he also said that he had just one condition for resigning with Czestochowa, and it was getting rid of one of the riders on the team, everybody assumed that he meant Ulamek. <{POST_SNAPBACK}> Polish medias published some detailed reports regarding this infamous conference, and here is what I managed to pick up from them. Czestochowa's chairman, Mr Maslanka, said that the money for 2006 season at his disposal is not the same as in the past season, and his riders had to accept cuts. But Rune was offered a litle more than last year. When other club entered the bargaining and offered him more money, Czestochowa could not even match it. So in an amicable way we had say good buy to each other - said Maslanka. After his speech it was turn for Rune Holta, who for this conference had specially prepared written text. Once he started to read it the atmosphere within the conference room has changed completely. Holta began with claims and accusations directed straight at the management. The management of the club knew that I was ready to sign the contract immediately after the end of season. I gave them only two conditions. Before I was going to sign a new contract I wanted to be paid money I earned in the 2005 season, and that they should choose between me and another rider. We shook hands and Mr. Mslanka promised me that he won't be signing that other rider. What's happened? Without any telephone call or any other communication with me, the agreement with that other rider was signed. I am still waiting for the money that I earned in more than 10 matches. It is not nice to tell people that I wanted "crazy" money (to sign the new contract). Money never has been an issue. After all I have been loyal to this club for the last seven years. If this was not the case, and if I was thinking only about the money, I would leave this club few years earlier. I have had the offers from other clubs which I've turned down." Rune then thanked Czestochowa fans for seven years spent with them. "In the end, he said - when I realized that one thing is said and another is being done, I decided that the best step forward for me will be changing the club. I believe that Rzeszow is well organized, young and prospective club with a future, but nobody knows what the future will bring. I am sure one thing. Nobody should ring me up from Czestochowa until the club will change its management. I simply lost confidence and trust towards the people now in control. I will always remember marvelous fans and they always will have a special place in my heart. I thank all my friends, all those who have been with me and supported me. For that special period in my live I say "thank you" to them. As one can imagine "a storm" erupted after Holta concluded his prepared speech. Claim and contra claims began flying across the conference table. During that time the name of that "other" rider (Sebastian Ulamek) has been mentioned by someone in the audience. It is worth mentioning that Holta is not the first rider who complained about Ulamek. Few years ago the same claims were raised by Slawomir Drabik, Ryan Sullivan and Grzegorz Walasek At that time Holta revealed also the amount owned to him by Czestochowa - 40 000 Euros. The Conference's atmosphere was thickening minute by minute when finally the Czestochowa's chairman decided enough is enough and called it off.
