whowasthatberntpersson
A top quality field will contest the Queensland Open Championship this weekend, apart from the top Queenslanders (Watt, Batchelor, Smith, etc) the lineup also includes some stiff competition from New South Wales, it really should be a cracker. The Junior program will commence around 1600 - 1630 (4-4.30pm) I've just booked my flight, and the young fella has got a ride...so I'm a happy chappy. Hope to catch up with a few BSF people on the day/night.
Guest Sir Lunchalot
Good luck with the young fella WWTBP. I'll be at Broadford on Sunday so it's a no go for me unfortunately. I'm still tossing up about the following weekend too but with an eye on the dollars it looks like the SA titles is more likely for me. I know Bryn will be there of the BSF members but not sure about anyone else unless Trackman makes himself known ... and if he does don't mention Oxford !! whowasthatberntpersson
Final placings; 1st Olli Allen 2nd Chris Holder 3rd Dave Booth 4th Dave Watt So the first two were non Queenslanders. Bit of a strange meeting with an awful amount of crashes, resulting in Troy Batchelor, Corey Williams and Jason Doyle pulling out early on. Another non Queenslander Michael Slade was unlucky not to make the final, riding impressively just about all night, missing out by just one point after one poor ride I'll leave all the details to Bryn and co. Great to meet up with Bryn again, also present were a host of former riders and speedway folk including BSPA Chairman Terry Russell, former Oxford star Troy Butler, Ivan Mauger, Vaclav Verner, etc, etc. Most of these riders will now head North for the big two day event at Pioneer Park next weekend. Bunce
Any news on the riders that crashed out of the meeting? I'm hoping they are all OK.

I was interested to see how Troy Batchelor went compared to Chris Holder seeing that Chris was seeded direct into the Oz titles and Troy has to go the round about route through the qualifying meeting. Shame you never got a full meeting from Troy to find out their comparative form at present. Was the track bad or was it just boys going a bit hard and coming unstuck ? I must admit the time I was at Labrador I had my heart in my mouth every time the riders barrelled into the bottom turns because with the downhill back straight run to turn 3 and the camber going the wrong way in turn 3 & 4 it's nearly a certainty to catch someone one out sooner or later. Main Man, Ty didn't ride up north as he was in action at Mildura (Sat night) and Broadford (Sunday afternoon). I don't think the long trip between the two meetings in a short time did Tyron any favours as he had an unusually poor meeting today at Broadford by his standards. Bryn
Qualifying scores from last night: (Proggie order - 5 rides) Anthony Perks 3 Scott Smith 6 (4 rides) Chris Holder 14 Steven Reid 6 Roy Stout 6 John Oliver 10 Ricky Barney 9 Dave Watt 12 Troy Batchelor 0 (withdrew after one ride) Jason Doyle 0 (withdrew after one ride) Korey Williams 2 (withdrew after one ride) Olly Allen 14 Michael Slade 10 Leigh Fernance 4 Dave Booth 11 James Holder 8 Tim Chilcott (res) 0 The Junior final was won by a certain Nick Morris making WWTBP a very proud dad indeed - and rightfully so! There was certainly some very hard riding happening early on. Many riders have had problems exiting turn four at Labrador and thats the way it was on Saturday, they create so much speed coming down the back straight and go wide coming out of the turn, thats what happened in Batchelor's race, when Troy went hard underneath Korey Williams, in what was a re-run, Korey had already been splatterered in the first staging but his bike took a bIt of a battering second time round putting both he and Troy out for the night. The main thing is all the riders seemed to come out of the meeting relatively unscathed. As for Holder and Batchelor, hard to compare at this stage, they didn't ride against each other. Chris looked very quick once again and did very well to make the final, where he looked well on the pace against Olli. Thanks Bryn I was very pleased with Nick's performance had to work hard for the win (didn't have his normal gating mood on). whowasthatberntpersson
Can you let me know how John Oliver and Ty Procter went please. <{POST_SNAPBACK}> MM, John rode reasonably well, he scored 9 points from his first four rides (three seconds and a win) although some points were gifted with missing riders, etc. Must mention the new look Kevlars and Bike ...very impressive. Olli gave you a mention too. Edited December 12, 2005 by whowasthatberntpersson
Main Man
Yes thanks for that. Had a call and an e-mail off Olli. Shaggs did well by the sound of it --so well done mate!! Mixed up on where Ty Procter was riding -- put it down to jet lag!!
"SACK " The Manager
Jason Doyle 0 (withdrew after one ride) <{POST_SNAPBACK}> Hi Bryn, What was up with Doyley mate. Is he OK ? Crouch.
Guest Sir Lunchalot
Hi Bryn, What was up with Doyley mate. Is he OK ? Crouch. <{POST_SNAPBACK}> I think Bryn might be "in transit" heading up the Nth Qld to do some sight seeing prior to the Pioneer Park two day meeting so I'll answer if I may. A post I saw on an Oz board said that Jason had a suspected broken collarbone and was going to get checked out to see if that was indeed the case. Here's hoping if it is broken its only a small crack that heals quickly.
"SACK " The Manager
A post I saw on an Oz board said that Jason had a suspected broken collarbone <{POST_SNAPBACK}> Thank you Lord Lunchy - you guys will be aware that he figures highly in our plans for 2006, and we would all hate to see the super progress he has made this year hampered by an injury at what is now a very critical point in his career. I did see Pav last night who had a message that Doyley was 'OK' ? Thanks again for responding. Crouch.
