KevH
Any idea how the two Brits qualify for the qualifiers? IMO it should be the top two non-GP Brits in the British Final. That would add more interest to the meeting and seems the fairest way to do it.
Brightonbob
Who got the nod? I can't find that news anywhere!
Subedei
That hasn't been decided yet. I notice one of the qualifiers is on Tarnow's huge track in Poland.

Rob B
Speedway Star says today top 6 from British Final being held at Belle Vue go through to GP qualifers.
iris123
Star has it wrong i guess. From what i have seen Britain,Denmark,Sweden,Germany all have 4 riders in.For some reason Poland have the most with 5.Others like France have 2,etc.Just isn't enough places with only 3 quali's for Britain to have 6.Also does Britain really have 6 riders that have a chance of bringing anything to the GP's.O.k how many have Germany or France.... Really i guess Nicholls and Richardson will have to enter, just incase.Which as Kevin suggests only leaves 2 places up for grabs Maybe if one is doing really well in the early GP's that leaves another place free, but would they risk not entering You can see how it pans out here.Rather strange IMO that what looks the weakest quali in Hungary has 6 qualifiers, while only 5 go through from the 2 hardest(without any riders yet being named). Also 3 Hungarian riders all at home???? Edited December 1, 2005 by iris123
The Cat
Why is there not a decent qualifier in the UK.. Think these are some of the best meetings, real cut throat.. We only ever seem to get a U21 quarter final every year!
Hazzman
That Hungarian Qualifier is a joke. 2 GB 2 GER 2 USA 2 ITA 2 SLO 1 CZ 3 HUN 2 SWE Qualifier of quality there
Subedei
Really i guess Nicholls and Richardson will have to enter, just incase. I guess that depends on whether there will still be "permanent wildcards" for 2007. If, say, BSI keep back 2-3 places for their "picks", Nicholls and Richardson might not bother with the qualifiers. iris123
Risky though. If they finish down the list and some of the others down there with them qualify will BSI go with basically the same riders next year or will they feel a need to change at least 1 or 2.Would be hard to justify 2 Brits getting 2 out of 3 wildcards.Might be even harder for BSI if a Brit qualifies.Or what happens if Zagar fails to get any higher than 13th or 14th in the GP's and fails to qualify. Will they give "their" rider a second chance over one of the Brits.Very tricky.I would rather they took no chances and got through the quali, along with Andersen, who must be favourite. In fact i would rather they finished right up the top of the GP rankings,but...... f-s-p
The Finns are putting Joonas Kylmäkorpi and Kaj Laukkanen in to the Tarnow qualifier.
Kevin Meynell
Britain,Denmark,Sweden,Germany all have 4 riders in.For some reason Poland have the most with 5. The way it usually works, is that federations apply for a certain number of places, and these requests are reconciled to the number of available places. However, federations that offer to stage rounds, are usually awarded more places than those that don't. The reason that Britain has less places, or that it doesn't have a qualifier, is probably because we didn't offer to stage a round. garf
The Danish Speedway site, speedwaynet.dk has heard the names of the Danish GP qualifiers somewhere on the water pipes. According to Kjeld Lund they are : Hans Andersen Kenneth Bjerre PUK (Niels-Kristian Iversen) Jesper B. Jensen. Charlie Gjedde did not get the chance to qualify at the time being. He might be a kind of reserve for the qualifiers to the Grand Finale in Vetlanda, but I don't know the exact rules for this.

barrow boy
In October I wrote to John P at BSI regarding GP wild cards and qualifying. I said that in future the top 8 continue to requalify automatically but that the remaining 7 should be allowed to race off against 9 others. These 9 could be decided by the forthcoming GP qualifiers. The eventual GP Challenge or Race Off could then provide the 7 riders required to join the 8 that have pre qualified. If promoter's Wild Cards are still to be used then the number of Race Off qualifiers just have to be reduced accordingly. Based on last year's results such a Race Off could comprise the likes of Hans Andersen, Ryan Sullivan, Tomasz Chrzanowski,Scott Nicholls, Lee Richardson, Jarek Hampel, Antonio Lindback, Mark Loram, Piotr Protasewicz, Peter Karlsson, Greg Walosek, Rune Holta, Matej Zagar, Simon Stead, Kenneth Bjerre, Kristov Kasprzak, Neils K.Iversen to name but a few. Such a meeting would certainly make good dramatic TV and be an honest selection method not open to abuse. Paragon
I think it all depends where they have it. I think Re Run Rune will be over the moon to have the qualifying meeting at Vetlanda instead of somewhere like Easbourne for example.
