Conkers
Conkers Posted Jan 21 2006, 10:36 PM One question - Where were Eibl, Nikulin, Tuinstra, Pletschacher, Flyktman and Leitner?  Answering my own question here - Graham Halsall rang me this Morning - He had a real good few of days in Switzerland and was extremely pleased with the result and his own performance. As to where the other riders were (apart from Stefan - broken collar bone.) Graham said that after practice on Saturday they decided not to ride as it was too bumpy and rutted. I understand that Flims may be a "Natural" track (ie no Ice Plant next to it) which may have something to do with it. Graham is back home now with a trip to Divisov in two weeks for R4 of the GSS. Conkers
Forgot to add - the next Round of the Golden Spike is FRIDAY 10th March in Assen, where the riders will compete for the Roelof Thijs Bokaal whilst scoring GSS points. Â If you are going to Assen and are able to get to the Friday Meeting, then we should give Graham Halsall the most support he has had the entire series. He has improved as the GSS has gone on, and currently lies in ninth place. I'm sure with a large number of British fans behind him, he will do even better! toonarmy084
i am the son of mark uzzell another ice racer from england and this ice racing season i have been the mechanic for heinz Goldi whilst also helping Graham where i can and he has improved so much this year in the series including beating markus skabaraut and sebastian gagenbaur in divisov. PLEASE PLEASE ENGLISH FANS GO TO ASSEN AND SUPPORT GRAHAM AND HEINZ GOLDI ON THE FRIDAY NIGHT. malcolm uzzell.
Conkers
Malcolm (Toonarmy084) posted elsewhere on the forum that Robert Eibl, Slava Nikulin and Tommy Flyktman had withdrawn from the GSS. I can see why in the case of Slava and Tommy being in the World Championship, but as Eibl is reserve, doesn't make much sence to me. Unless the DMSB don't want another situation where their top rider is injured (as with Bauer last year) and robs them of a fighting chance of having a German World Champion. Either way, with those three out of the running, it moves everone up a few places - In Graham's case he moves to 7th position, which is even better for him. A top 5 place is not unrealistic at this stage! Â (BTW Malcolm - are you and your dad going to be there too?)
toonarmy084
I will be there as mechanic to heinz goldi but my father will not be there. Graham is the only british rider.
iris123
Conkers, could be more to do with fielding a strong team at Berlin.Could be a right damp squid if not only Bauer, but Eibl,Nikulin and Pletschacher are all on the sidelines
Conkers
Malcolm - make sure to introduce yourself to me I'll be there on the Friday taking pics. Say hello to Mark for me too! I thought he may have come along as a supporter.  iris123 Posted Today, 04:39 PM Conkers, could be more to do with fielding a strong team at Berlin.Could be a right damp squid if not only Bauer, but Eibl,Nikulin and Pletschacher are all on the sidelines  Good point - last years Berlin Crowd was down on previous years I understand simply because Bauer wasn't riding. toonarmy084
just a note i have heard that samarodov is racing at assen in the golden spike series. In penza he was very fast but had a big problem with 2 crashes and 2 stops because of losing his rear chain but other than that he was unbeaten every time he finished. The other wild card could go to polikarpov as he is supposed to be racing at motala and skovde. Motala is 2 days before assen starts. Â Â Does anybody know the start list for Skovde or Motala i know Heinz Goldi is riding as i am his mechanic and Mark Uzzell is a reserve. Â I would also guess Posa and Steffan Svensson are also riding but i heard there are 12 riders who want to race there but cant because both meetings are full. Â Conkers - i will try to introduce myself but im sure you will find me first some where between Heinz Goldi and Graham. Â Hiw many people are going to Assen this year please get behind Graham Halsall and Heinz Goldi. It is possible for Graham to finish in the top 5 of this series. Conkers
Seems odd in a competition which is SUPPOSED to be restricted to Western European Riders, that the Organisisers in Assen should plump for two Russian Riders as Wild Cards, mind you Samorodov is a brilliant rider but I've never heard of the other one, Chapalo. Still if Chapalo is half as good as Danil Ivanov and Dmitri Khomitsevich who rode two years ago and were incredible, Friday should have some cracking races in the DeSmeldt Stadium! BTW Malcolm, I'll probably be the only English photographer in the Pits on that Friday, so I shouldn't be too hard to miss, I normally have a chat with Graham and Heinz when I get in there, so our paths should cross.
