Academy League Final

Recommended Posts

As with last years Newport Classic, Tim said there are not enough daylight hours to run Two meets and thus only had the four riders doing second halves.

Yes it could be run on a training Sunday but surely the riders paying £35 for the day would loose 2 hours track time whilst the acad match is run ?.Would they bother to turn up for shortened training sesion. ?.

Im not to sure if a promoter can charge the public an entry fee to watch a training session or Acad league/under 15's on its own,so how do you police the admission ?.

Tim would have started the meeting early if need be but as I say that would take it into the new season which wouldn't be very satisfactory. Brighton might not be the ideal as it is a bit of a novelty track but it does put the lads in front of a good size audience and get the meetings completed. At the end of the day it is a good compromise solution.

Couldn't run at a training day as they wanted it run alongside a SCB / BSPA authorised meeting, that's why it didn't run at Newport with the STRA.

No problems with charging admission to a training day but you aren't allowed to charge for the U15 meetings.

Well done to all the academy league a great time for our boys to be riding in an event like this i am sure most of them enjoyed it. Thanks to Peter Oakes for the time he has put into the under 15/16s this year, i hope he has enjoyed it as much as i have.

Dave Johnson

p.s. i think you will find Brendan scored two points in his first race coming second crazysue but hey who cares. ( i do ) :P:D

Ben Talor was not riding and Lewis Briger was. As for heat 8 i cant belive i spun a 360 on the last bend right behind lewis my team mate, but i didnt fall and i carried on the race why was i ex ??

Brendan, the explanation was that you caused the riders behind you to take evasive action, one of whom fell.

He had already fallen by the time you did your donut.

I had completed my programme, with you in 3rd,and had to change it once it was announced!

One of many dodgy decisions by the referee on the day.

Very impressed with you.Great day out.

League and Cup winner in your 1st season.

Well done.

Sorry about that, was getting rather stressed at the time (and confusing myself  ).

God knows why I texted that through , I have marked it in my programme correctly, blame old age or something, I certainly can't blame alcohol! :D

This was a brilliant part of the Brighton Bonanza.

Some people were sceptical about the idea but personally I think I enjoyed the youngsters more than I did the main event.

And as for Coventry's very own RICHARD 'Titch' FRANKLIN - what a superstar. Still so very young but coming out to win his heat which possibly nailed it for the Buffalo's.

If you were there - We were (are) his fan club.

Great entertainment boys. Congratulations to Peter Oakes for a fine show from these boys and Martin Dugard and Co for allowing them to take part. :D:D

What a brilliant day and nerve racking in the pits with a roller coaster of emotions from the Buffallo lads they were so gutted after George and Joes disaster heat 5 but they came back from the changing rooms for the evening event so positive and belived in themselves. with George and Brendan starting the come back and then poor titch he had not been in the meeting was thrown into a vital heat cold He was waiting by the pits gate with Ben Reade with the whole team round him geeing him up. he went out there with all that pressure and did the job with ben man of the match in my books. :approve:

Big thanks to the fairys you were great amazing support :D

nice to meet you all before the meeting by the pits
