Ian H
It just occurred to me while watching the GP on Saturday. Can anyone explain why heats 11 and 12 are elimination heats? Jason Lyons won his last race but was still involved. I understood it was two third places or worse for elimination so is there any reason for this apparent anomaly? BTW how good to have a GP run on a proper speedway track
full-throttle
Ian, to get into 'the main event' a rider must register two finishes as second or higher. In Lyon's case he had in his first ride only finished third, so despite winning his next heat left him requiring a 1/2 place finish to continue. Greg Hancock for example only needed two rides to gain qualification after finishing first and second.
