Lisa Whibberley?

In British League!! she rode at Canterbury & Arena Essex as well I think second halves National League level and at Iwade on a regular basis as well.

Edit to make it clearer that Canterbury and Arena Essex were National League at the time not ness. Lisa riding National League ...... Does that make sense :D

There wasn't a girl rider who rode in any official league fixtures.

Lisa Whibberley Wobberley rode some 2nd halves and the odd junior match.

Julie Cross rode in the Telford indoor meeting one year.

If you read the post, it says rode in 'a British league', rather than 'the British League', so the NL would qualify under that description had she ridden in it - which, apparently, she hadn't.

If it wasn't her, then I suspect there wasn't another female rider who rode in a league, although I do remember there being another one around at the same time but can't remember her name.

I believe there was another junior called Maxine Hill around at a similar time.

Grachan I know what it says, I was making the point that she wasn't in a British League to the best of my knowledge only Second Halves & Juniors (I think  maybe Kev H or Steve Hone can confirm this).

Was pointing out that Canterbury and Arena Essex were National League level at the time.

Also if you've ever seen her ride you'd know what the !!! mean after British League even though I omitted the 'a' geeeeeeeeeeeeeeez that was hard work but maybe now it will make me read the post through before pressing add reply :wink:

Maxine used to ride grasstrack with Mark Loram.  Pretty good she was too!  :approve: Wonder whatever happened to her.

Maxine quit racing in the early 90's after a couple of injuries. She was really good on the grass, beating many of the better guys, but she never really excelled at speedway. After a year or two with the Hackney junior team. she went back solely to the grass. Strangely enough, I used to work with Maxine at Merton Council! Don't know if she's still there...

Was there not a year when there were several sisters and girlfriends of riders rode at Telford?
