G P Winners

Recommended Posts

..There have been 79 GPs since the circus started in 1995.

..And 15 riders from 6 nations have won GPs in that time.

..The first GP was won by Tomasz Gollob.

..And yes, it was in Poland.

..But not all TG’s wins have come in his homeland.

..He’s also won in Sweden (1997), the Czech Republic (1999) and Germany (2001).

..He’s won 10 GPs in all.

..Only two riders can better that and they’re Tony Rickardsson (20) and Jason Crump (12).

..No other Pole has won a GP.

..Tony Rickardsson’s 20 victories mean that he’s won over a quarter of all the GPs.

..No other Swede has won a GP.

..Denmark has produced the most different winners with 6.

..And they are Hans Nielsen, Tommy Knudsen, Brian Andersen, Nicki Pedersen, Bjarne Pedersen and Hans Andersen.

..They’ve won 14 GPs between them.

..That’s 6 less than TR’s won on his own.

..But 11 more than Britain has managed.

..Which means that Britain has won 3 GPs.

..That’s less than 4% of the GPs being won by British riders.

..The last British win was in 2000.

..That was Martin Dugard winning the 2000 British GP.

..And 45 GPs have come and gone since then.

..Mark Loram is the only British multiple GP winner.

..He’s also the only rider to have become world champion without winning a GP during the season he became champ.

..Scott Nicholls has never won a GP.

..His last GP final was at Sweden in 2003.

..That was 21 GPs ago.

..Lee Richardson has never won a GP.

..But since his last GP final was at Poland in 2005, only one GP has passed since.

..Three Australian riders have won GPs and all of them multiple winners.

..They are Jason Crump (12), Ryan Sullivan (4) and Leigh Adams (3).

..That’s 19 GP wins between them, still 1 GP win behind Tony Rickardsson.

..TR is one of only 2 riders to have competed in all 79 GPs.

..The other is Greg Hancock of the United States.

..Greg Hancock has won 7 of his 79 GPs.

..His partner in H & H, Billy Hamill, won 6 GPs before voluntarily leaving the circus.

..Which means the United States has won 13 GPs.

..Jason Crump has competed in just 62 GPs and, as mentioned, has won 12 of them.

..That means he’s won 19% of the GPs he’s entered against TR’s 25%.

..But at the start of the 2005 season TR’s wins “ratio” was 20%, while JC’s was still 19%.

..Further illustration of TR’s complete domination of the 2005 series.

You honestly think 4000+ post's in roughly 200 days is too much.

Yes, maybe I do need to slow down a little. Hoping to have a little hibernation over the winter months and be fresh (or as fresh as an 800-year-old can be) for the new season.

I wonder how many of them are anti Nicholls/Richardson.

Probably not enough. And you didn't even mention Jonsson.

Anyway, three sets of brothers have appeared in GPs together: the Drymls, the Karlssons and the Gollobs.

I think that may be wrong there Subedei, I think Ronni Pedersen made a few GP appearances last year or the year before along side his baby bro Nicki, which, for those of you who can't count, would make it four sets of brothers.

Wondered who'd be the first to spot it. Well done home straight. And it was in Nicki P's championship year.
