I take it all thoughts of an expanded Ekstaliga are out the window then Tommy ? Hope your hangover is ok !

Siema Rico!

Unfortunately yes :( ,the sad part is that we have to spend the upcoming season in 1st div. yet we have a stronger line up than this past season. The hangover isn't too bad considering the celebrations finished around 5am. So tonite i'm staying in and tomorrow off to a bar to watch Barcelona vs. Real...oh what hard life ;)

During the ceremonies our group Falubaz Net F@ns received and award for creating awesome presentations during meetings and for sticking with the team through ups and downs.

-Daugavpils, Latvia

-Rowne, Ukraine (not official yet)

-Miszkolc, Hungary (lot's of rumours that they'll join the league)

-Lwow, Ukranie (possible, but very unlikely)

It's ironic that the Polish chairman of the UEM Track Racing Commission was dead against the international league that was formed a few years ago, and yet the Polish League seems to be becoming a de-facto European League!

This is how the Poles manage to get away with it. The clubs are disciplined and stick together.

I'd think there would be plenty of grounds to bring a case against the Polish speedway authorities under EU law. Whilst I can actually sympathise with what they're trying to achieve, I'm afraid that sport cannot ignore the rules that Poland signed-up to when they joined the EU.

From the article on Sportowefakty i think the authorities are battling with this one now!

Some bosses of speedway clubs who were unsatisfied with the limit of foreigners made a complaint to the Polish Ministry of Sport saying that it's not compatibile with the UE law. The Ministry agreed and today PZMot (Polish Motorcycle Federation) decided that there are no limits for foreigners any more!

Sounds like a revolution in Polish league speedway... And it's not only about riders from the UE but all over the world.

Heard today from Smederna Chief Göran Karlsson that Scott Nicholls is ready for Unia Tarnow.

Which could give Unia Tarnow a top 5 of:

1..T Rickardsson

2..M Rempala

3..J Kolodziej

4..S Nicholls

5..T Gollob

Ouch.

But would Tomasz Gollob want to stay with a club that had no place for brother Jacek?

But would Tomasz Gollob want to stay with a club that had no place for brother Jasek?

You always get Jacek as an addition to Tomek... And their controversial father (saying politely) won't allow any team to exclude Jacek from the line-up.

Anyway, I knew that finishing with the foreigners limit would make a revolution in Polish league speedway and here we may have a first storm.

Looking at the future with excitment and curiosity but I am afraid when I see this:

1..T Rickardsson

2..M Rempala

3..J Kolodziej

4..S Nicholls

5..T Gollob

:o

I'd settle for both Gollobs at Ipswich next season!

I've often thought that where British promoters went wrong with Tomasz Gollob is in never considering Jacek. It started as soon as they came over here in 1992 for the Pride of the East meeting. Kings Lynn were only interested in Tomasz, but they didn't get him. And he didn't linger too long at Foxhall. It's pretty well known that the Gollobs are a close family and that the father is a dominating personality.

Maybe if Ipswich, or another club were to approach Jacek, they'd find they got Tomasz as part of the deal.

According to sportowefakty.pl Tarnow's biggest sponsor, Rafineria Trzebinia will cut funding to the club by over half of what it dispersed over last two seasons. Unia promoters have to find new sponsors in order to fill the gap in the budget if they want to keep Gollob's, Kolodziej and potentially sign Hlib.

On Unia Tarnow

This is better than I thought. I was suspecting we will see no money from RT any more. They stay on board with around 750 K PLN. The rest of the gap is going to be filled by larger sponsorship form original Tarnow sponsor Zaklady Azotowe and some lesser sponsors. However there is still talk about introducing additional large sponsor. Anyway, the future looks good. Considering Subedei possible lineup, I do not think so. Gollob Bros are suppose to sign next week and I suspect Jacek’s place in the lineup is safe. I could be wrong but I think we will not see two foreign riders in Tarnow lineup on regular bases. Or is it just my wishful thinking?

On new situation in Polish league

As for the compliance with Community law, I suspect we will see no major revolution. Next season might be little bit crazy but I think it will settle down then. To me the most interesting issues are U-21 riders, now when the market is open. Example: Tarnow considers bringing Pawel Hlib however they would have to pay 180 K PLN to Stal Gorzow. Now, the thinking could be - wouldn't it be better to bring a foreign rider with potential like Suchanek for example? It is going to be cheaper. From what I heard clubs are already receiving offers from young riders around.

I would have no worries about new situation if I was sure that speedway authorities will take steps to ensure proper development of young Polish riders. Unfortunately, Polish speedway is managed based on particular local present needs without consideration for near or distant future of the sport in Poland.

I would think you are pretty safe as long as the reserve policy stays (U21). It's been now adopted in Finland and the UK, and I believe the swedes have a similar system.
