I have some great memories of Leicester too. When I first started going to New Cross in 1960, New Cross were losing everything. Bottom of the League, kncoked out the National Trophy in the first round etc.

 

But then on 8 June, we met Leicester and won 53-37. The sweet smell of success for a change. Yes, I have a lot to thank Leicester for.....

 

Now then, back to leathers....

Thanks for the picture of Willy in his Bostik leathers the one of his old chequred ones too, even though he aint waring em, some great memories brought back I can tell you, some of the old battles with Cov were classics indeed !

Back to modern times - Seemond Stephens' kevlars have to be recorded. Always creative. individual and showmanlike. Not mentioning the time when he and Lol Hare donned black suits over their kevlars a couple of seasons back.

I remember buying the chequered leathers of Willy, & picking them up from his mechanic's house one Saturday morning. In the afternoon I answered a knock on the door to find Ray standing there asking if he could borrow them back because he'd forgotten his own & was on his way to Kings Lynn. If I recall correctly he scored 10 points in his last meeting in them.
