Guest speedyguy
Former Bristol Bulldog rider MIKE BEDDOE sadly passed away Wednesday 31 August 2005, he will be greatly missed, our thoughts are with his family. <{POST_SNAPBACK}> Sad news indeed. But it could not have been on Wednesday August 31 2005. That night I bought the Speedway Star at Wimbledon (their September 3 edition) and it was in there. I remember Mike as part of the 1947 Bristol team with Billy Hole, Graham Hole, Fred 'Friar' Tuck, Roger Wise and (?) Reg Lambourne (not certain). Mike also had a couple of meetings for my local track Wimbledon in 1952.

Grachan
My mum used to go to Bristol in the forties and often told me about Mike Beddoe - the guy with half a foot.
BertHoven
My mum used to go to Bristol in the forties and often told me about Mike Beddoe - the guy with half a foot. <{POST_SNAPBACK}> I saw Mike ride many times at Hyde Road and always admired his style and his attitude to the sport. The sport is sadly lacking in men of Mike Beddoes's character now. He lost part of a foot in a track accident but returned to action and was soon a top quality rider again. Over the years I've oft wondered what happened to Mike after his eventual retiremnt. Many riders have slipped from my memory - Mike never did! bulldog 77 / 78
When Mike retired from the sport he remained in Bristol and lived in Brislington near to the former KNOWLE GREYHOUND STADIUM where he and the original Bulldogs rode. His foot injury was apparently quite horiffic! but Mike played it down, he was back in the saddle 2weeks later with a specially adapted boot. There is a "BRISTOL SPEEDWAY" video available and mike is on it being interviewed at home (about 3 years ago) recalling his memoirs - and laughing about his accidents - what a stalwart for the sport !
