tommy
Interesting story...no pics though... Recently on a trip to Gdansk, three Falubaz Net F@ns members (including myself) where on our way to GD by a train, as the afteroon came rolling around we got very hungry. While in Gniezno (about 1:40hr from Bydgoszcz) we called up Michal Robacki's (Polonia's rider) pizza shop in Bydgoszcz to see if they'd deliver it to platfrom 4 at Bydgoszcz Glowny. After short negotiations everything was set, 3 medium pizza's where on que to the station. As the traing pulled up to the station the delivery man arrived with 3 damn good pies. After eating the pizzas we called back the shop and thanked them for the delivery and told the lady to send our regards from Andrzej Huszcza and Zbigniew Blazejczak

I'm glad to hear the lad is back in training (well I'm not really as I think he should pack speedway in as it's too dangerous.) I think those photos brought it home to me just how horrific speedway crashes can be - probably because over here we don't get shown close ups of an injured rider. I thought about him for ages afterwards and hoped he was recovering okay. Glad to hear that's the case. Andrzej Huszcza ... That's a blast from the past Tommy as he rode for us (Leicester) in the 70's. He must be even older than Sam Ermolenko. Mateusz
I believe he's back in training Gemini: http://www.sportowefakty.pl/index.php?dysc...5&news_id=79728 Rico might be able to translate, or Mateusz. Sorry - I've missed this post. So a short translation but looks like you've already got the point: Mateusz Szczepaniak is recovering faster and faster. He has already started his trainings (in a gym), soon he's gonna come back to normal trainings at a speedway track. We don't know yet if he's gonna ride at Bydgoszcz on Sunday (now we know he didn't ride). All fans look forward to his come back. Mateusz Szczepniak has been much supported by Czestochowa fans during his rehabilitation. Everything seems that he's gonna come back on a track even this year. (...) While queuing in front of the gates before the Bydgoszcz GP some fans also called three Robacki's pizzas and they delivered it to that queue! However, I never eat there because of a sad fact that they don't sell beer in this pizza restaurant Edited September 6, 2005 by Mateusz
tommy
That's a blast from the past Tommy as he rode for us (Leicester) in the 70's. He must be even older than Sam Ermolenko He's 48. This has been his 30th season on the track, all with Zielona Gora. Next year he'll be a bench warmer for ZG as he's steadly losing his form and he's gotta make room for the young riders. Gemini
] This has been his 30th season on the track, all with Zielona Gora. That really is an amazing record. I doubt if it would ever happen over here as riders seem to swop and change clubs on a regular basis. Mateusz. Thanks for the translation. Subedei
I'm glad to hear the lad is back in training (well I'm not really as I think he should pack speedway in as it's too dangerous.) And the dangers of the sport illustrated again with the news that Tarnow's Grzegorz Rempala fractured his back in a fall during Tarnow's meeting at Torun last Sunday. Let's hope the fellow makes a speedy recovery.

Subedei
Glad to hear that's the case. Szczepaniak has been named in Czestochowa's programmed line-up for this afternoon's Ekstra Liga meeting at home to Torun.
KevH
He's 48. This has been his 30th season on the track, all with Zielona Gora. As Gem says, that is an amazing record - am I right in thinking Barry Thomas hold the record in the UK at 20 years for Hackney?

Thanks for the translation. <{POST_SNAPBACK}> I think that has something to do with our own........our very own.........Mismanagement Committee. It's a thinly disguised form of the old Rider Control. Recent Labels include Team Average 2003, Rider Grading 2004 and Team Average 2005. I believe the Summit Conference to design the 2006 label is to held in November. richtea
I was at the meeting in Lezno and the banner certainly wound some of the fans up - somehow the home fans managed to get hold of it and tried to torch it Was a brilliant atmosphere but wouldnt have fancied being in the cage with the away fans. I would suspect that this match was fairly tame compared to some matches judging by the patched up damage in parts of the stadium. Something certainly gave me the impression that the Lezno fans didnt like Rune Holta and Ive never seen such an insencere or forced handshake as that between Holta and the Kazparzaks. One thing that did surprise me was the poor turn out of Poles at the WTC - it was a big dissapointment. The team were awesome just a shame there werent that many fans there to support them. Possibly because the prices were too high or maybe in Poland its that the teams are more important than the country?
Mateusz
ULTRAS It's a link to a topic on the biggest Polish speedway forum (SportsBoard) where fans put the best pics of shows they make at Polish stadiums Some pics are superb, and good to warm up this cold autumn atmosphere... Pics are directly put on that forum and it all loads at once at the same time so it may take some time to get it downloaded but it's really worth waiting Edited October 25, 2005 by Mateusz

Ticket prices were the main reason for such a poor turn out. 70 zlotych for the final is a lot considering average monthly income per person in Poland is approx. 900zl.
