Could Have Been So Much Better!

Recommended Posts

The fans always look forward to the Bydgoszcz GP, or should I say used to look forward, because it was always an absolutely fabulous meeting, racing wise. Now the track is slicker, it's still a good meeting but not as good as it should/could be, it's not a superb meeting anymore!!! SO ANNOYING ............. question is, why isn't the track prepared like it used to be????????

I'd imagine it's prepared, as always, for however TG wants it.

There was still some great racing tonight and Gollob's overtake of Nicki P was out of the top drawer.

I feel it was virtually a foregone conclusion, Subed, that Mr Gollob would win this one simply because the track was prepared to his requirements.

Perhaps at the next British GP the Cardiff track should be prepared to suit the English riders - but then that couldn't happen could it? It would be totally foreign to the British sense of fair play.

I have just been saying the same elsewhere on the forum.Such a pity that with a big wide track like that, made for great racing, they put virtually NO dirt on it. It might as well have been a concrete runway.

Actually, the track was NOT prepared to his requirements, had it been so, then there would have been far more dirt on the track, and Gollob would have been unbeaten!

Seems the fans aren't the only ones who think Bydgoszcz could be better! This is a quote of Leigh Adams from www.crash.net/speedway/home ..............

“Three years ago this was the world's premiere speedway bike facility, but a tendency to make the track slick has removed that mystique somewhat,” said Adams.

“I don't really care what they do, but it would be nice for the fans to see some real racing rather than a gater's derby

Maybe I'm blinded by Gollob's great 4th in a row victory but I think it was not a boring GP. We have here many times more interesting league matches but this year's GP was much better that last year's one, however not as good the GP in 2003. There were some nice overtakes and fight. Well, going to a tournanment called Speedway Grand Prix I didn't expect lots of remarkable attacks etc. Just a great international speedway holiday with Gollob flying around the fence

As I've said many times before - it's all about the track which is prepaired according to Olsen's orders.

I thought it was a good GP to be honest. And Gollob's overtake of Nicki P in Ht 6 was wonderful. The thing about Bydgoszcz is that, even when it's as slick as can be, Gollob knows he can still make it work. He probably also knows that he's the only one that can make it work.

Well, I haven't seen a better televised Elite League meeting than the GP last night, which begs the question of how good must the racing be in the Polish Ekstra Liga?

Very good, believe me. But of course not everywhere - depends on how they prepare a track.

For example - this year's match Bydgoszcz v Leszno was in opinion of many an essential of speedway. The track was perfect to fight and such riders like Adams and PePe could fully make use of it :D

If you haven't seen any any Polish league speedway and would like to - just send me a pm and maybe I can help you :)

As always the track is prepared to Ole Olsens instructions. Even Malilla in Sweden, but the rain spoiled that and the Swedish track was able to relay it to give some great racing.

Incidently why did Sky pull the plug early. For the first time there is a British rider on the podium and we were not able to witness the presentation.

Obviously I am easier to please than you Trees  because I thought it was a very good meeting with some cracking racing from several of the riders.

Totally agree thought there was some great racing and pleasing to see riders in full throttle, controlled racing and not fighting ruts, then being thrown of line. Passing was excuted perfectly and was down to rider skill and riding, not mistakes from ruts :approve:
