Any links ot suggestions would be much appreciated.cheers tom <{POST_SNAPBACK}> Tommy, You could try the official Belle Vue website at www. bellevuespeedway.co.uk. Click on the 'History' tab. There's a good selection of pics on there. Offhand I can't remember of there any from the '70s though. Ron.
Grachan
Grachen, in the pic 'Mauger action' , are the Swindon riders Jan Andersson and Bobby McNeil? <{POST_SNAPBACK}> Pretty sure it's Geoff Bouchard and Bobby McNeil. The other Exeter rider is Phil Herne riding as a guest. The colour shot later is Bobby and Jan though. I've added a couple more pictures (see my Signature). Custom House Kid
Added some to my webshots! If anyone can help with identification please feel free! all late 60's early 70's
Grachan
I've added some more too. Can anyone identify the Reading number 7? My guess is Bernie Leigh, but that's all it is - a guess. And while we're at it. Does anyone know whether that's Martin Ashby or not on the outside of Briggs and Collins in the third picture? It looks like his leathers, but the style's all wrong. Edited August 23, 2005 by Grachan
frigbo
Definitely Crash, World Champ round in 1974 - Leicester i think. Not sure on the Reading number 7 - face mask looks like John Davis, but i'm sure he wouldn't be at 7.
bucket
I reckon the 3rd pic is Martin Ashby although it doesn't look like his style. There are a couple of traits of his in the photo, If you look closely at his left hand he's holding the handlebars quite a long way from the end, he also has a plate on the engine, covering the oil pipe. A mate of mine has an ex Ashby 2valve engine with a plate just like that. He tells me it's to cover another spark plug!
Grachan
It's certainly a strange position for Martin, but funnily enough it was the left arm that also added to my belief it is him. In particular the position of the left elbow. I've looked at the Reading website and there is a picture of the 1975 team. From the leathers on that picture, I'd say the Reading rider could be Mick Bell.
miro
Grachan I remember the moped 'race'. Could you imagine what would be said on this forum if that kind of thing went on today ...

Grachan
Grachan I remember the moped 'race'. Could you imagine what would be said on this forum if that kind of thing went on today ... <{POST_SNAPBACK}> I missed the moped race. Can't have been by much though. I believe it was part of the 25th Anniversary meeting in 1974, which was my first season. I didn't start going until August though and it must have been before that. I did buy the 25th Anniversary booklet though - a classic of its genre. Think the Reading 7 may be Hans Wassermann?? Is that about the right time? <{POST_SNAPBACK}> Not convinced it's Hans Wasserman. I think he was shorter than that. I still reckon, looking at old team photos, that Mick Bell is the most likely. I've added more pictures. Can anyone guess the Oxford no 4 against Hackney, and the Oxford number 2 against Wimbledon? Edited August 23, 2005 by Grachan
frigbo
Is it Helge Langli v Wimbledon and Eddie Davidsson v Hackney??
