Despite a little bit of uncertainty and the odd rumour Gosford is definitely on for November 26th, in fact it is their opening night. Originally they were going to start on the 12th November but that got cancelled due to lots of the riders scheduled to be in Victoria that night.

Terry Poole is still promoting the venue even thought there was some suggestion that he had been offered help to run the venue but that did not eventuate so its business as usual under Terry's stewardship.

The Gosford press release said

Promoter Terry Poole announced today that following several weeks of uncertainty and negotiations with the Speedway Riders Association of NSW, the new season will commence on Saturday, November 26 (7.00pm). Poole himself will remain at the helm as promoter, with some background assistance from former Test rider, sponsor and promoter Trevor Harding and his wife Mary (ex-Kwiksnax) who will take over the catering side of the Gosford operation following the retirement during the winter of previous caterer Barry Middleton. The season will continue as scheduled until Easter with 11 meetings slated including the NSW and Australian Solo and Sidecar Championships.

“There have been many rumours recently,” said Poole. “But I can now confirm the speedway WILL run. And it will be under my promotion. Nothing has changed from past seasons and it will be business as usual from November 26".

“We would like to have opened on November 12 as planned but when other people organised for seven of our main programme riders and another seven evolution class riders to travel down to Victoria that weekend it left us very short of quality competitors for Gosford and more or less forced us to postpone our meeting.

We should, however, have a full field available for Saturday night, November 26".

“During the season we will bring back Demolition Derbies to help draw better crowds on our quieter bike nights and we will also trim our advertising budget for ordinary meetings. However all the championship meetings are safe – we are committed to running them and they will go ahead.”

The opening meeting on November 26 will feature Solos, Sidecars, Quarter Midgets and a Demolition Derby.

Looking forward to Shane's big night out on December 3rd. NOT so sure that I'm looking forward to the following morn though!   :P

Oh there you go rubbing it in because we are going to be freezing here and with no speedway

When are you off Bryn? Have a lovely time and save some Bundy for the natives

Leaving here Nov 21 Shazzy and looks as if I've got to stay until Feb 7!

Now here's one for you all - wanna speculate who might apply for the following?

"MA (Motorcycling Australia) is now accepting applications from speedway competitors for a five day training camp at the Australian Institute of sport in Canberra from December 5-9.

.... the camp will focus on general sports science (nutrition, sports psychology, physiology etc) and physical conditioning."

I guess the nutrition and physical conditioning bits would rule out both myself, and MM not to mention Lunchy!

:wink::P:lol:

I take it that the Hernes are riding --so will be there with them . Tell Terry if he wants some British guy helping with the announcing I'm available!!

I should say that barring unforeseen circumstances the Hernes will be riding on the 26th MM, They are both down to ride in Victoria on the 12th & 13th too so I'll get to watch them go round down here then.

As for the announcing at Gosford, I don't know Terry Poole (gees I don't mix in speedway circles that high up !!) but I do know the guy who does the announcing at Gosford and if you want me to mention it to him then I can do that if you would like.

And as for Bryn .. what's wrong with my nutrition and physical conditioning !!!!

I leave on the 21st as well Bryn --don't say we've both booked the same flight!! Are you heading into Sydney first ?? If so what an amazing co-incidence!!

No MM - I'm heading straight to Adelaide first and, all being well, I'll be at Mildura for their meeting on 27/11. Flying out of terminal 3 at Heathrow at 22.15.

Blimey that entourage sounds like speedways answer to the Priscilla Queen Of The Desert troupe !! I'm looking at being in Adelaide on the 4th, not sure yet if it will be by air or land. I'm trying hard to con a friend of a friend to not go away himself and lend me his camper van instead (I've told him he really should stay home and do his garden :)) and I can head off and do the entire 4 rounds at my leisure and sleep when / where I feel like it.

I think I can just remember what you lot look like and I think Marty still owes me my 2005 glass of water too ;) !!

PS I had a great cup of coffee at the Gold Coast outlet of that coffee shop chain last time I was there, hope the Adelaide one is just as good.

Oops !! My fault, I thought Ozyace was talking about the Oz titles in January. I'll be heading over on the Saturday morning (3rd) for the Shane Parker meeting

For all you jet setters flying into OZ why not consider the big Pioneer Park two dayer just before Christmas.

I'm led to believe that Pioneer Park promoters Shelly and Rhino Ryan have a top quality lineup penned in for the 16th and 17th December.

I'm not in a position to confirm starters but its going to be a world class field.

Domestic Air Fares are cheap at the moment, and a trip to the tropics is well worth it.
