Television Commentaries And Interviews

Recommended Posts

An American using American slang doesn't bother me. We all use different slang, catchphrases, have accents etc. The thing that bugs me is the mistakes, and missing something important in a race because the commentator may have been taking crap at the time.

About the commentary, only thing I really dislike, is Sam Ermolenko with his "buddy" and "whoooooo go buddy" crap...

We might disagree on who is the best presenter, Sophie Blake or Julia Bradbury, but that I do agree with.

There's nothing wrong with Sophie Blake. She might not know everything about speedway, but she's trying all the time and learning more and more. I've seen loads of Sky presentations this year*, and she always has something to comment on a riders performance earlier in the week or a week earlier. About her interviewing foreign=polish riders, I've seen it happen a couple of times with Robert Miskowiak. I cant understand a word, but Sophie at least lets him have the time to try and say something, and appears to understand what the guy is saying. Between Julia and Sophie, Sophie wins it by the proverbial br... chest

And you think that means that she watches them herself? She doesn't come up with everything on the spot you know, most of it is pre-planned and influenced by what other people want her to say.

Just like one of those barbie dolls - you pull the string and it talks.

I think at least 3 different people were described as being the Polish manager by Nigel Pearson over the course of the run-off and final. It was the one with the moustache young Pearson.

No s??t? :D She's been doing it for a few years now, you think she can forget everything the minute after? Of course it's pre-planned. When I go and talk to riders, of course I think ahead what I'm gonna say. In GP's I have maybe a minute to talk to them, before someone "more important" comes and takes them away. In Sophie's case it's the actual racing. Beside's everyone would look kind of stupid on TV just keeping their mouth open and staring each other.
