Gotta be really good experience for the future ... good on yer Smolly ! Cheers
shazzybird
I missed the meeting last night due to a fight over the tv., gadget with Liverpool playing on ITV2 or Speedway on SKY sports, seeing as the other half says speedway is boring and him being a Liverpool fan, I lost out big time again couldn't get to the pc as the kids were on it. Soooooooooo sat and sulked all night missed the reply now have to wait til 1:30pm at least then I'll be wide awake and although I know the result I can't wait to watch it. At least #2 son will be happy with the winners.
Grachan
A great climax to the meeting, which started poorly but gradually improved. The Poles definitely played for it in heat 24 too. I was wondering before that race if they would deliberately finish two places behind Rickardsson as it was their only chance, and I have no doubt at all that they did. So, Gollob is just amazing then is he? So how good does that make Leigh Adams? I did wonder, though, if Gollob was trying to keep the German in front for a bit in the early laps as they needed Sweden to come last, but maybe I was looking too much into it. That race either proves how stupid the Joker is, or proves it's a good idea. Not sure which. I hate the Joker idea, it's unfair and ridiculous, but without it we probably wouldn't have seen such a good race.
salty
What a fantastic race!!! Every year the WTC seems to throw up these classics. Hats off to Adams, Gollob and Smolinski for providing some brilliant entertainment. Sky should use that when they advertise Speedway in the future. 21st century heathen
Waited a couple of hours for something to happen but wasn't it worth it. Until then there really hadn't been much to shout about, other than a few good half laps here and there. I'd gladly wait another couple of hours for a race like that though. Martin made what I always maintain is the perfect start. Whoever was inside him (can't remember now) twitched at the start, and Martin just dropped the clutch. As long as you don't 'do a Lindback' then it's fair game. Dropping the clutch at the exact moment the tapes go up is as good as it gets. I hate to see races pulled back because someone got it right, so thankfully this one was alowed to go. Full respect to all the riders for a hell of a race. Three and four abreast and none of them were tempted to stuff one of the other riders. without a bout that race goes into the top ten races I've ever seen. With the bad luck the Poles had I was desperate for Gollob to win it, and give them a chance to go straight through. I'm torn now as to whether I keep this one on DVD. It was pretty crap on the whole, but that race...

Subedei
So, Gollob is just amazing then is he? So how good does that make Leigh Adams? They were both superb. And what was really special about it was that at no stage did either Leigh Adams or Tomasz Gollob seek to "close the door" on the other rider. 21st century heathen
Keep it on DVD Brummie boy, they only cost about 25p to buy now <{POST_SNAPBACK}> Well it is, for the time being anyway. I've watched it several times since. I've noticed a couple of things that I missed when I saw it live. Going around the 3rd/4th for the first time PK actually had his nose in front for a second, and Martin had his nose in front a couple of times. I hadn't realised that. Initially I thought he was just slightly behind. Watching it again though I think he had the best/faster line but the bike wasn't quite quick enough. He seemed to get just level/fraction ahead on the turns but just didn't have the straight line spped to challenge Leigh and Tomasz on the straights. Fantastic stuff, and total respect for each other to race hard and close without any contact.
Grachan
One thing I've noticed, having watched it again. The talk was about Smolinski getting a roller, but if you watch PK at the start, he also makes a move just before the tapes go up. I wonder if the fact that he then found himself at the back was why it wasn't called back as an unsatisfactory start.
21st century heathen
Yeah I mentioned that in my earlier post, about half way up the page. I'm sure it's that twitch which made Martin drop it when he did.
