SCB
If Adams hadnt stopped him the Poles wouldnt have won the meeting - they would have drawn if forcing a race off. Unlike you to slip up on such a small detail <{POST_SNAPBACK}> The point is, Adams slipped up and didn't give the Poles a chance, so Sweden were handed the win, had Adams NOT won, the Swedes would not have been guarenteed the win as they'd have had to go to the run off so nobody would have been handed the win. If we're talking about technicalities, read the post Edited August 2, 2005 by SCB
BritPete
The last race was indeed the highlight of the night, however, it surely was a ragged start with the German getting a flyer, and PK being the most inconvenienced, maybe that makes up for the non-exclusion of Rickardsson previously! Guest KFC Baby
I've gotta say that Smoli was outstanding in heat 25....what a start!! (Which was amazing as gating isn't a Coventry rider's speciality!) The way he rode was fantastic and I enjoyed watching him beating Tomasz and Leigh for a lap! Just wish that the commentators gave the Germans a bit of praise...they're only young lads and they were there for the experience...and they gave it their best shot! Well done Smoli! Shortcrust
Was just great to see Tomasz Gollob looking back to his best
richtea
SCB - you said to stop Poland winning the meeting - they wouldnt have won the meeting if Adams hadnt stopped them. However I never win my arguments with you so Ill let you off your small mistake
rabbit
Just wish that the commentators gave the Germans a bit of praise...they're only young lads and they were there for the experience...and they gave it their best shot! <{POST_SNAPBACK}> Exactly...I try and blank out Dull Mullard as much as possible but his belittling of their efforts was really p'ing me off. Please, just let the run-off and/or the final go to Floppy and Pearson. Someone at Sky must be listening surely... And heat 25 - pure class. Show that to the '1st out of the start wins it' brigade!!! pirate paul
On the line Adams JUST got the win to stop Poland winning the meeting and handing the win to the Swedes. <{POST_SNAPBACK}> I don't usually agree with Eastie fans richtea but this time I will swallow my pride Come on SCB, that technicality argument would never stand up in court Edited August 2, 2005 by pirate paul
SCB
But it did stop Poland winning the meeting, didn't it? As it meant Poland had 0 chance of the win when Adams won, had Gollob won, there was a smallish chance Poland would win, after all, Tommy G had already beat "The Big T" (copyright Dave Norris ) so may well have done in the run off. Subedei
But, on second thoughts (because I posted a TR-TG race-off earlier), would the "Big T" have been in the race-off. The rider of the night, scoring wise, for Sweden was Andreas Jonsson. I'd guess TR would've gone in the race-off, but Jonsson was superb on the night and would've deserved to be in it. Also, he'd beaten Gollob, although he was very hard on the Pole, earlier in the night. Edit: And yes, Jonsson was superb this evening. Like Gollob, he seems to pull it out of the bag in the SWC. He was outstanding for the Swedes last year as well. Edited August 2, 2005 by Subedei

Mateusz
A fantastic heat but without a happy end.. Good old Gollob from the late 90s ...
Lanzilla
I thought the Havvy/Rempala duel last year was awsome, but that Final race tonight eclipsed it by miles. Brilliant.
Midnight_Lady
Amazing it was but we were yelling like hell for Adams to let Gollob thro to at least give the Poles a chance to avenge the injustice that was Rickardsson in the previous heat. <{POST_SNAPBACK}> Me too SL. Fantastic to see Tomasz Gollob riding like that once again. he certainly hasn't lost it and is the best ever on a bike I do wonder at the Aussies though If it was me I would rather have taken the chance with Sweden in the race offs rather than Poland in their own back yard! Trees
It's two from the race off tho isn't it, sincerely hope the aussies get the last spot and not Denmark .......... not forgetting Czecho! Heat 25 was a great race, thanks to some great riders!

Think they'd have had to give TG a 30 minute break before the race-off if he'd won Ht 25. I mean I was exhausted just watching it, God alone knows what state Gollob was in after riding it. He's not getting any younger you know. Edited August 2, 2005 by Subedei
Midnight_Lady
It's two from the race off tho isn't it, Yes I know. I meant the Aussies going in to the race offs along with Sweden.
youngy105
I think Heat 25 was a reminder to us all what Speedway is all about and why we love it.
Guest Sir Lunchalot
And we never got to see it out here Mr Gollob has supplied me with one of my all time favourite speedway memories when in the WTC (2 years ago ?) he and the Russian gated with the Swede (Mikael Max ?) back in last place after missing the start. Gollob proceeded to team ride with the Russian by taking the outside line and leaving the Russian to take the inside. He nearly had to throw out a parachute to go slow enough to keep the Russian where he wanted him and it worked for about 3 laps until Max got by. Gollob's body language when he discovered the Russian hadn't been able to hold his place was priceless. If the heat you guys are talking about is half as good as that it will be brilliant. Star Lady
Not just the ref tho is it? Had it been Nicki P using the elbow, this thread would have been at 20 pages already Where's all the condemnation for a dangerous move? What Tony R did was disgraceful and could have caused a massive crash if Watt hadn't slowed so fast. For the record I've never liked Tony R either, even when he rode for Lynn so I'll carry on with my crochet
