frigbo
Loram for Screen is a no brainer, Also not sure that both Harris and Stead are a good idea in Poland, despite both riding excellently tonight
seanisnumber1
I think its a great idea, we might not win the World Cup but letting the likes of Bomber and Steady ride can only benefit us even more in the future due to the experience of this yr!! They are the riders we will be looking to and so should be given the experience!! Whoever we track it is goign to be harder against the Swedes, Poles and Danes in the final!! Jenn
You cannot possibly take out Steady and Bomber!! What have the guys gotta do to make you want to keep them?!? Its all fine and well saying your not sure about them on foreign tracks........but what are you going to do in a few years when Norris, Screen and Loram aren't options?!? these 2 guys are on the form of their careers so give them a chance to get the experience!! Who honestly thought theyd put in the performances they did last night beforehand?! Maybe given the chance they will surprise you again! Plus I think seeing these two ride at Wroclaw could be AMAZING speedway!
frigbo
The difference is that they both have proven records at Blunsdon and usually score very well there, although they did 'punch above their weight' last night. Blooding one of them in Poland is ok, both is a big gamble. My team for the final would be: Nicholls Richardson Loram Norris Stead
Derwent
Also not sure that both Harris and Stead are a good idea in Poland, despite both riding excellently tonight <{POST_SNAPBACK}> Are you serious ? the track at Wroclaw is tailor made for a rider like Steady. Derwent
Yep, although you've ignored my other post which actually puts Stead in the team! <{POST_SNAPBACK}> So I did, that's cos you posted it while I was typing mine so I didn't see it ! Derwent
David Norris really should be in the commentary how funny was he? "Don't forget you heard it here first David Norris announces his International Retirement" Norris replied with "Easy Tiger" Classic <{POST_SNAPBACK}> I thought his best line was when Pearson asked him if he'd ever had a row with Nikki P at Eastbourne and he replied "No, but I can go and start one if you like, no problem..." Laser558
If Loram is fit then then someone has to be dropped. They all went well last night and in terms of effort deserve a place in the team but I cannot help feeling that the performances were a littled flattered by the opposition. The Danes are a force but made a few mistakes and apart from some lucky breaks the Czechs and Russians were out of their league. Put the same British team up against the best the Swedes, Poles and the Danes have to offer and the task is much tougher. By all means send the same team but in the spirit of getting experience for the future and then in two or three years with perhaps Kennett and King along side Stead, Harris and Nicholls we could well start to contemplate having a good run of results at international level. If they could have started as underdogs on Saturday the pressure would be off but now I am not so sure. Still we can savour the glory of last night but must not be disappointed if they do not quite make it on Saturday our day will come.
BritPete
Are you serious ? the track at Wroclaw is tailor made for a rider like Steady. <{POST_SNAPBACK}> Are you sure about that? The reports that I have heard about the Wroclaw track, are, that in spite of it's size, is an absolute gaters paradise, very bad news for us, if true! BROCK
Well done all the GB team last night . good solid performance. One thing that does annoy me, which has nothing to do with the team, is the fact that the Union flag on the Parade vehicle, and some around the stadium were flown upside down. I believe that when this is done it is a sign of distress. PLEASE can we have the BRITISH flag flown the right way up. I would have thought that the organisers should have spotted this. People moan about being patriotic, so lets start by flying the flag correctly. Moan over.
21st century heathen
I'm half expecting Joe to step down if Mark declares himself fit. Given the choice of riders I'd go with Lee, Scott, Chris, Simon and Mark. If Mark is not fit then it's a tricky one. Joe is unlikely to score heavily out there, so do you ask David to step in. He hasn't got much racing under his belt recently, so that's a tough ask. Whichever way it goes I would have the other four from yesterday plus A. N. Other. It's going to be very hard in the final and, although I'm trying to be optimistic, I have to admit I'll be satisfied with a rostrum place for our boys. Good on ya so far, and good luck for Saturday. rob
I don't think Simon Stead or Chris Harris have ever ridden regularly in Poland, and so will have little experience of Polish tracks. However i believe both should do okay, as both Stead and Harris are big track riders, whose careers got going on the larger circuits. However Mark Loram definitely should ride if fit, even if it means dropping Joe Screen. If Britain are to win, we need the best team. Be ruthless if necessary, this is sport. As the last post says, remember last year Joe Screen told Middlo to pick Havelock for the final. Perhaps he'll do the same thing this year. Screen definitely wants GB to win, with him there or not. Undercover Elephant
Loram in for Joe Screen. Middlo just cannot afford to risk Screen in Poland. Stead and Harris would be the first names on my team but what do I know!
Cheekee Raylee Monkee
I thought that the boys were tremendous and it made for a thrilling night of speedway. Its a tough call for Middlo but if Mark is fit I also think that he should come in for Screeny. This is no slight on Screenie - it took all 5 riders to win the meeting and he rode his heart out (as they all did). I think that Bomber and Steady deserve to go to Poland. We have to take the long term view. They came of age to a degree on Sunday and they have earned the right to be 'blooded' at SWC final level. Also, who else could Middlo choose from that would deserve it more?
KevH
The reports that I have heard about the Wroclaw track, are, that in spite of it's size, is an absolute gaters paradise, very bad news for us, if true! So maybe Gary Havelock should come into the equation - after all, he did win the World Championship on that track.
TwoMinuteWarning
I think the GB star is Middlo. Every year, he is left with a depleted team. Every year, they ride above themselves and do us proud (I've never seen Bomber and Steady ride as well as they did last night) Dunno what he says to them, or puts in their coffee, but it certainly seems to work! I really do hope that, one year, we can put our strongest team on track, and win the World Cup - it would be a just reward for Middlo. Mr. Clemens
Simon Stead and Chris Harris must be given their chance to shine in Poland just as they were given the chance at Swindon. They will acquit themselves well in Poland just as they did last night. As for Screen, I will leave that decision to Joe's better judgement. If he personally believes he can perform in Poland then I am sure he will do. If he doesn't think so, then I am sure he will do as he did last year and step down in favour of the one he thinks will do a job he can't. I feel though that Screen will be there and he will acquit himself as well as anyone else.
seanisnumber1
Confirmed on the BSPA site that it is the same team for the final. Middlo has talked to Mark and is not fully fit yet, and has put his faith in the 5 riders that got us to the final!! Screeny is getting a new faster engine for the final, which will hopefully boost his score!! Good on ya Middlo!!
masked_rooster
to the clown not fancying the bomber and steady in poland, go and take a break from yourself. these two kids will excell on the big fast polish circuits. if steady and bomber dont already ride in poland there will be a few promoters out there to sign them up wouldnt it be if all the brits had 100% support going into saturdays big meeting without being sniped at
