Subedei
I agree that Nicki P is compromising his chances of winning the crown again with his antics. He does need to have a long think about it. But the fact remains that the FIM and other governing bodies need to have disciplinary procedures in place, that includes suspension from future GPs. AndyM
Yes - and this time disciplinary issues will almost certainly appear on the BSPA's agenda, but I've yet to see any indication that the FIM will do likewise.
Mr. Clemens
My belief is that no rider wants to take the 'responsibility' of doing Pedersen harm on the track for all the right reasons. What I do feel is that Pedersen might well suffer serious injury himself. It will come about in a scenario where tries to pull off one of his usual stunts. This will rebound on him, in a way that there will be those who say it is 'Poetic Justice'. I had this feeling about a rider long ago, for different reasons, so much so I was inclined to write him a letter advising him to retire from the sport before he harmed himself. I didn't write this letter as I decided that the rider in question could not and would not make a decision of that nature on the basis of someone's 'hunch'. Problem is though as those around me would tell you, my 'hunches have an unnerving consistancy in being proved right'. It didn't surprise me to learn later that indeed this rider suffered serious injuries that finished his career.
Liontamer
Funnily enough, I was talking to Quasimodo about this the other day, & he also had a hunch. Ahh Quasimodo.......that name rings a bell.
BertHoven
I agree that Nicki P is compromising his chances of winning the crown again with his antics. He does need to have a long think about it. But the fact remains that the FIM and other governing bodies need to have disciplinary procedures in place, that includes suspension from future GPs. <{POST_SNAPBACK}> As an addendum to my earlier comments, Sube, I would add that any suspension should be from all competitve riding for a fixed period. This, of course, would have to apply to all riders and would carry the right of appeal. Such appeal to be heard within seven days of the imposition of the sentence. AndyM
It would take a powerful if not unprecedented agreement between the FIM and ALL domestic bodies to achieve that - and the riders would undoubtedly feel that denied them the right to earn a living since they are not paid when they aren't on the track, and UK fans would definitely feel aggreived if a rider were banned from UK meetings for an offence committed in, say, Poland. Penalties should be levied for persistent bad behaviour, without a doubt, but don't go over the top. Question: if you want to do this on an international basis, Bert, who would keep track of all the yellow and red cards and apply the penalties? Quite some administration required. Splatty
I did send a PM to the 'admin' account in the hope that someone would reply - preferably the moderator who edited my post but I really don't understand why it was - my post was based on historical facts - i.e. that one rider in particular in the GP field has a habit of reminding Nicki (and usually only Nicki) that two can play the same game - I do not condone overly aggresive on track behaviour as I don't with Nicki's catalogue of incidents and I was not simply plucking a name from nowhere The topic title asks 'who will sort out Nicki Pedersen' - and assuming that it will not be himself or the speedway authorities I was discussing the very real possibilities that one rider in particular could take things a little further in the future I will omit to mention the rider's name again in case I hurt your sensibilities
Sullivan_and_Eagles_Fan
From my understanding Nicki has been excluded three times for unfair riding this season in the elite league and twice in the gp i believe, i may be wrong. However if these facts are true ... he's hardly a mass convict is he?!
