ezekiel
I've been having a good think about the current GP series, as to me it is really wrong that riders can no longer qualify. How are riders like Norris, Protasiewicz, Peter Karlsson, Loram and Holta ever going to get the chance of becoming a regular in the GP series? I know some riders have had their chance before, but if they are riding well why should a younger rider get the nod ahead of them? IMO the top 8 riders at the end of the series should retain their places. The national champions from Britain, Sweden, Denmark, Poland, Australia, and USA should also be awarded a place. If a rider finishes in the top 8 and also wins their national championship the spare slot would go to a rider of BSIs choice. This leaves potentially 2 spare slots (if none of the national champions finish in the tip 8), one for the World U21 champ, and one wildcard. This way all of the riders in the series would be deserving of their place, and it would inject much needed interest into the British Championship. Also, the liklihood is that BSI would still be able to have some choice into which riders compete in each series. What do others think? Subedei
How are riders like Norris, Protasiewicz, Peter Karlsson and Holta ever going to get the chance of becoming a regular in the GP series? In fairness, aside from Norris, they've all had their chance and done precious little. It's the young up-and-coming riders who we ought to be thinking about. How are riders like Iversen, Bjerre, Miskowiak, Kasprzak and so on, going to get into the circus? Edited July 13, 2005 by Subedei

AndyM
Anything is fairer than closed nominations. Even that most secretive of appointments processes for appointing judges is being opened up for more scrutiny than it's ever had before, so why BSI should be allowed to control access rather than a free and open qualification process is beyond me. It's unfair and denies riders a chance to qualify that they always previously had. Whether it's the version you've invented or any other, we need a proper means of entry to prevent the sport looking ridiculous yet again.
