born_2b_mad
A couple of years back I had a Wimbledon programme from 1949 which had a rider written down as N PIQUET. I'm pretty sure the name wasn't down as programmed to ride. Can anyone shed any light as to who this is!!??
norbold
I'm not sure what you mean when you say the programme had his name but he wasn't down to ride. How do you know he was a rider?
born_2b_mad
From what I can remember he was pencilled in at reserve for a meeting, but for the life of me I can't find the programme. All I do remember is that it was 1949.
norbold
Oh right, I see. I'll see what I can find out. I don't recognise the name off hand (except the F1 driver of course!)
Ian
Is it entirely a coincidence that there should be a reference to NELSON Piquet on Trafalgar Day? Is this a windup?

Presumably the rider he was referring to was the Mick Piquet you've listed above. Wonder if he's related to the F1 drivers? If ever born_2b_mad shows his face again (hasn't been on here since March 2012) we'll let him know.
BL65
Piquet was a reserve for Wimbledon at Bradford on 16th July 1949, but failed to score from two rides.

And he rode for the Dons junior team (alongside Reg Trott) that same night. Plus, he rode in a "Probables" vs ""Possibles" on opening night at Rayleigh in 1948.
