iris123
Thanks Leliwa. Was just wondering if all these "off track" problems are affecting Tomek's form.Having seen him in Copenhagen,he really looks a shadow of the rider he was a couple of years back. What with the Bajerski incident,is that finished? tommy
ust flicking through the latest BSA and there is a piece on T.Gollob and his father being in trouble with the Polish authorities for tax fraud(i think) unsure.gif .Anyone know more about this?Has it already been settled? the investigation is ongoing. apparently most-if not all the money that was given to Polonia Bydgoszcz club by the city was supposed to go towards paying off bills (electricity, hot water, renovations etc.), instead the club decided to pay off the debt of Gollob brothers. When someone leaked the info, prosecutor ordered an audit of Polonia's finances and that's where they found a trail that led to Wladyslaw Gollobs scamming ways (apparently ). It found that Wladyslaw's company (officially bike tuning shop) had a turnover of over 10 thousand euro during 2002-2003 (undeclared) which in turn meant he owes the government approx. 30,00GPB in upaid taxes. iris123
Thanks tommy What is your(or general)opinion on the situation in the 2nd league, with regards to the foreign clubs joining.I see Krakow had problems and from what was reported part was the travel to Latvia/Ukraine.Last year it was reported that the Polish clubs had to hand over money at the border to get through. Can the second league carry on like this or will all the clubs have trouble surviving with this format? tommy
Can the second league carry on like this or will all the clubs have trouble surviving with this format? the situation keeps on repeating it self every season and a club or two withdraws from league leaving mostly freshly turned speedway riders and veterans that can't compete in higher divisions in the cold. This year we had Krakow withdraw and Lodz was ready to do the same, unfortunately or fortunately (depends on how you look at it) riders from Lodz decided to ride out the rest of this season for free! IMO it's hard to find a compromise as there are pluses and minuses to merging 1st & 2nd div. If you merge the two divisions, management of 1st div teams complain that they lose revenue when their team face a weak team from the basement of the league table. That creates little interest from fans who don't want to see a boring meeting that ends with a let's say...30 point thrashing. So at the end of the day when that team wins 60-30 and you have a crowd of about a 1000 the club is on a minus after a hefty pay day. On the other side 2nd div management wants to race with the better teams with the better riders which would bring in larger crowds and most importantly attract new sponsors. TV is as big part of it as Ekstraliga and 1st div gets the most air time exposure. So the vicious circle keeps going round and round with out any solid results. Yes, there's been a lot of problems with crossing the ukrainian border, the corruption is a high level there, lines ups to the crossing are miles long,so if you want to get ahead of the line up you have to pay off the local mafia (who co-operate with the customs) and that will get you through quicker. But thats not all, once you enter ukraine you'll probably have to pay off more "authorities" for fictitious environmental charges and other made up taxes.
