Steve Shovlar
Another case of rose-tinted glasses Mr Shovlar?! <{POST_SNAPBACK}> I don't give a toss for what Sullivan does I don't support him at all in the GP's. Just thought it was totally infair and he was penalised by the Pole. Red light, Pole out and a rerun should have been the call.
stressed
Are they going to sort this bloody starting gate out or what, it makes the sport look so unprofessional Quite agree, disgusting for a meeting of this magnitude, the equipment should be the best of the best when being shown live on TV
Nevs
Anyone got someone out there watching they could text that is likely to have a can of WD40 in their bag?-May be worth ringing them-Will probably get a pit pass by the time it finishes. stressed
These tapes should be breaking when they get caught up, maybe they are using the wrong stuff as well as 2nd hand kit on the start line

Liesdale
Things like this would never happen in F1. Edited June 25, 2005 by Liesdale
AndyM
Presumably the gate had been tested beforehand? If so, you'd think this problem could never occur. But since they can't rewind time, better to take time to sort the electrics than run the risk of having to use green light starts. As Stressed says, that would truly be a farce in an individual meeting where the starts are crucial.
stressed
Green lights anyone? Then the sport will go into real joke land along with the F1 fun and games in the USA
pirate paul
These tapes should be breaking when they get caught up <{POST_SNAPBACK}> Its a good job they don't. There wouldn't be any tape left by now

AndyM
Thinsg like this would never happen in F1. <{POST_SNAPBACK}> They don't have bits of elastic in F1, and if they did I don't suppose F1 cars would stop if they were broken! Has anyone ever tried motocross-style gates in speedway, where a metal barrier goes down? That might be dangerous, but I'm sure there must be some way to use the principle to prevent similar debacles with traditional starting gates. stressed
Thank god they can't do the green light starts! Just gotta wait for the tapes to be sorted once and for all!
