stevehone
looks like 'Alan' somebody to me ....
Grachan
I thought it looked like 'Alan' although it could be John Davis as his looked a bit like that if I remember. I used to have loads of autographs around that time, but unfortunately I lost them at some point so I can't look.
Guest Jim Blanchard
I would say the first name is John.

Grachan
here is one from John Davis from that period <{POST_SNAPBACK}> Hmmm. Inconclusive I'd say. Definite similarities though, but definite differences too.
Guest cheetahhawk
Could it possibly be Anders Michanek's autograph ? Given the programme it was on, was an England v Sweden meeting, I thought it could be Anders also the clue of 1974 vintage as Anders was World Champion that year . iris123
I'd say defo no to Anders from the examples i have.He just wrote Anders, and it finished with a definite "s" end and didn't tail off.Thing is i'm sure iv'e seen this one before... Guest Jim Blanchard
I guess it would be stupid to ask if there was a 'John' in the line up for said programme? Its not Peter Craven I.L.S I have enough of them to be able to write them in my sleep. Can we see a scan or the list of riders in the programme? It might help. iris123
At a guess Jim,i think as he says, he has an idea and wants to see if anyone comes up with the same answer. If whoever got the autograph was like me,it might not be a rider that was riding that night.Got Szczakiels sig when he made a visit to Plough Lane,Mike Bast, the Russian team....I can eliminate a good few of the Swedish side of that time Sjosten,Lofqvist,Jansson,Nygren
WATigerman
Thanks for your input guys. The programme was from an England Vs. Sweden test match at Sheffield in 1974. The teams were: England: Ray Wilson Doug Wyer Peter Collins Dave Jessup John Louis Malcolm Simmons Carl Glover Sweden: Bernie Persson Soren Sjosten Tommy Jansson Soren Karlsson Tommy Nilsson
