Gb Swc Squad

Recommended Posts

I wonder who Middlo will pick as the SWC squad for this year and who the main 5 will be? Obvious picks are Nicholls, Richardson, Norris and Loram but will Middlo look to give some of the youngsters a chance for experience or will he, in my opinion, pick the strongest riders on current form even though they may be in the twilight of their careers. I would have Louis and Havvy in the squad ahead of anyone outside the main four already mentioned.

Is Smudger eligible? As I hear he now has a Polish passport as he was due to ride in the Polish Championship qualifiers but can't due to club commitments.

If so, he surely has to be in the squad of riders, not necessarily the top 5, as he's been in top form this year.

Eddie has impressed but would perhaps be a little out of his depth against the Swedes, Poles and Danes.

Seeing as both Swindon and Worclaw are big tracks I'd go for Simon Stead (barring injury)

Undoubtedly Nicholls, Loram , Norris and Richardson have to be there, but as far as Louis, Havelock, Barker etc are concerned why bother? We might as well just go with the youngster and giv ethem experience rather than wasting time with the older riders who are past there sell by dates.

I'd go with Louis. Not sure about the others. Maybe it would be good to test Kennett out on our own soil and then we don't necessarily need to take him to Poland.

Surely the team must be: -

Loram

Norris

Nicholls

Richardson

Stead, Harris

Swindon and Wroclaw are both big tacks and Steady is the obvious choice!!

I think we need to move on from Screen, Louis, Havelock and Barker to give the young guns a chance!!

Disgaree.

Louis is still an 8+ rider in the EL, if fit should definately be in the tea

GB need to track the best possible team which is Loram, Nicholls, Richardson, Louis, Norris. Stead and Harris reserves.

Loram, Nicholls, Richardson, Norris and Stead at Swindon. If we get to Poladn then replace Stead with Smith for his experiance on Polish tracks.

I just don't get this at all! So a rider who you claim is well past their sell by date but averaging over 8 in the Elite League (in Louis' case) should make way for a 3 point averaging youngster to 'give them experience'. You don't want to put out our strongest side to win then, you'd rather give up the chance of winning just so a couple of kids can do their confidence a world of good by trailing round last?

I don't care if Louis and Havelock were 87, if they were better than anyone else we had I would put them in. They earnt their places when they were young and weren't given leg ups at the expense of better riders.

Give the kids a chance, when they are better than the old guard, IMO.

No sense of national pride and a hunger to win from your camp then?!
