Hazzman
Former Grand Prix rider Rune Holta has been named in Poland's 12-man squad for this season's Speedway World Cup. The Norwegian star who rides for the Czestochowa club, is a Polish passport holder and is also a former Polish Champion. The Poles contest round two of the SWC against holders Sweden, Australia and qualifiers Germany at Eskilstuna on Tuesday, August 2. Their full squad is Tomasz Gollob (captain), Holta, Damian Balinski, Tomasz Chrzanowski, Jaroslaw Hampel, Pawel Hlib, Krzysztof Kasprzak, Janusz Kolodziej, Robert Kosciecha, Piotr Protasiewicz, Grzegorz Walasek and Karol Zabik. Interesting the Poles have all these great riders coming through such as Miskowiak and Rempala yet they choose Holta. P.S. Just realised Miskowiak had a falling-out with Polish authories over neglecting his Wroclaw wild card and riding in Britain.
robpeasley
Hazzman, Last year the Poles took the opportunity to blood some youngsters, but my guess is, this year, with the race-off and final in Poland, they'll field their strongest possible side and go all out to win it. All the best Rob

speedway_dan
What the hells going on surly if he's already made international appearances for Norway he cant make appearances for Poland. This wouldn’t be allowed to happen in football. If it could Gigg’s could put paid to England’s left sided headache as he’s half English!!!!!!! The wacky and weird world of speedway continues to amuse and annoy me when will the monkeys who run this sport learn?? No wonder the sport continues to laughed at!! Guest Shale Eater
But Rune isnt Polish <{POST_SNAPBACK}> He has a Polish passport so is eligable to ride. He was actually Polish Champion a couple of years ago, unlike a certain Mr Ferjan who only owns a Hungarian racing licence and not both With the squad the Poles have got and the final being at Wroclaw(?) I think they could well be favourites for the title.
Champion
Interesting the Poles have all these great riders coming through such as Miskowiak and Rempala yet they choose Holta. <{POST_SNAPBACK}> EXACTLY ! And trust me, it's a great shame for many Poles... The truth is that Rune is out of GP series so he desperately needs to show himself in some serious competition to earn the goodwill of BSI authorities deciding who's gonna be invited into the SGP 2006... Subedei
Did Gollob not kick up a fuss when Holta was allowed to ride in the Polish championship?

All the best Rob <{POST_SNAPBACK}> Yes your right espically with the Final in their own country. Just noticed Poland's Opening round is in Eskilstuna which Holta would know better. Subedei
I think the Poles will use Holta in the Swedish qualifier and then home-grown riders in Poland. I'd guess BSI and the FIM are hoping Poland go into the race-off to ensure interest in that meeting.
Guest Shale Eater
Could be hell of a party if Poland win
Subedei
Well, it's a safe bet that the track will be dictated by the Polish team, no matter what Ole Olsen says.
Guest Shale Eater
Hope the Poles do win. For me in the World Cup over the past couple of years, the Poles have always been bridesmaides along with GB
