I have to disagree with everyone.

Great Day!

Average Meeting!!

First eight heats were absolute rubbish, the races were over by the 2nd lap and if it wasnt for the last few heats I didnt think much to the meeting and may think many people maybe with me on that one.

However, large incidents and action plus the Brits all having their various bits of glory. It was great to watch the riders you fully known are capable of great riding (Hampel and Jonsson) do so well.

The Norris/TRick incident was very 50/50. I cant blame Norris for going for it (why not when you are struggling) but I feel TRick was very quick in placing his bike down and I think the way he managed to stay on feet after being hit proves that. Nicholls looks like how he has in 2003, slowly getting better before getting a podium position. Richardson suprised me and I think he prefers them manmade tracks.

TRick was untouchable expect for one person, Jaroslaw Hampel (slowly becoming Poland's Speedway idol no longer Tomasz). TRick's wall of death passing techinque was superb, something I have seen in a GP for a long time. Hampel was simply superb, his bikes were perfectly tuned and set and he has a skill at the gate.

The Danes were great enterainment weren't they? Nicki Pedersen bumping off two riders but Crump's vigilante escapade was very unprofessional yet I was safrican americaning to myself. Andersen's fall was worthy of an Oscar and despite his great ride in Heat 16, he still for me remains not one of my favourites. It will be an interesting event at the World Cup when Denmark and Team GB lock horns again.

The Aussies were terrible, Crump was inconsistent he deserved two of his exclusions and he seemed to lose it from his incident involving Andersen. Im sure he will be punished. Adams looked off the pace and despite Sullivan wanting to win points, if it was that bad of an injury why not just pass his spot to Bjerre someone was looking forward to ride.

Rant over. It was a great dayout- a famous 8-7 loss on one of Cardiff's parks was stuff of legends. Despite not being able to get to Cardiff Bay because of the M50 being shut up. Cardiff is a superb city and the staff should be commended on their helpful attitudes yet I still feel that the cans and bottles searching was harsh.

The crowd was great and the Poles even better. If I seen Ole Olsen I would give him a few serious to sort out the track ready straight at the start of the meeting. Plenty of travelling, feeling tired. However, its all just practice for the 30 hour Bygodszcz trip!!

Still I will go next year and get my Dad come! One of his last meetings was one of the best Speedway meetings ever 1981 Wembley final. He seen Bradford, Hailfax, Belle Vue and Exeter yet he still has no massive interest in the sport. He knows of the riders and predicted TRick to win. Hes seen Penhall, Nielsen and the Collins brothers yet he isnt willing to go Cardiff.

My expections have been lower yet everything we still works around the 2nd Saturday of June.

This was my first trip to cardiff and i had a wicked time, the atmosphere was electric !.

If anyone set their video machines correctly to record it ( unlike me !) then i would dearly love to buy a copy of the meeting from them, if they would considder selling me one, ( or better still on dvd).

I know it was re re-run on sunday, but there was no way i was gonna be out of bed at ten am............and i was proved wrong when i assumed it would be re run a couple of times on sunday...sillly me

Can anyone oblige me with a recording to keep for posterity ?? i can pay through paypal, or send a cheque in advance.

Here's hoping ....

Dear diary-

Great GP, superb weekend.

Arrived friday lunchtime -eat, shopped and had a drink or two!! We piled into our pits at 2.30am followed by Nikki and Queen Bee at 4am gone!!

Woke up around 7am - noisy outside - got breakfast, shopped, had lunch and went to the POW. Lots and lots of new faces so my apologies if I ignored you - you were either to tall or I was pulled in a different direction by Krisse. :D

So on to the GP - Bjorn Again were superb - but no one else in our snobbish block joined in!! The racing - was enjoyable and great fun whilst Aj and Scotty were battling but then it was a bit tame. Poor Lora - Greg was just not in it! (You win some and you loose some - but you loose more than win!!!!)

So enjoyed the GP and then went off for Chiv's and Strops birthday bash (did you see the banner!). After that closed we went elsewhere and had a ball!

So here come the Forum announcement -

Rory Schlein agreed that if England win the Ashes cricket series he will do a 4 lap Shane Parker at Brandon before the end of the season!!

Sorry Rory - you may not remember saying it but I there were enough witnesses!!!!!

Finally rolled into bed sometime after 2.30am

Many thanks to Dave for accepting us as his guests at the Marriott - but the drinks were very pricy! :)

So Sunday morning - get up late - and headed for Weston Supermare - decided to give Newport a miss. Too knackered and no money left.

From Weston to Swindon - should have come straight home.

OVERALL - a fantastic weekend - thank you to all those who came with us, all those we met over the weekend and sorry for all those I didnt meet but should have done :D

I had a really good day yesterday. It was lovely to meet some of you for the first time and to catch up with some of you who I'd already met. <3

Even if I did get filmed by you, Mr Shovlar. Grrr.

The meeting was awesome in my opinion, and I really enjoyed it (as I do every year). Seeing Tony and Hampel doing so well topped my night. Well done guys!

The atmosphere was great around us in the stadium. However, as Fiveone and I looked back behind us towrds the top of the middle tier, we saw lots of miserable faces. Confusing. They didn't seem to be enjoying themselves at all.

My friend was very impressed, as a beginner to speedway. She loved every bit of the meeting and felt very welcomed by forum members. :)

I loved the fireworks at the end to finish off a fantactic night. It was brilliant.

My throat hurts. :\

So there was more grumpy people in the stadium too! Family stood next to us didnt say a word to each other all night just had a programme and a pen  Whereas we had 3 union jacks and 2 st georges flags and 3 air horns between us

Crump was unlucky,he didn't touch Andersen and I thought he was left with no room in the Hancock/Rickardsson race(should've been all four back).Norris was victim of a "professional foul" by TR as I think he would've stayed on if he had to!!!

my 3rd gp and I do think it was better than the last two.

Arrived in cardiff about 4 with two friends on the train.

got some food and air horns :P and waited for the gates to open.

found our seats got a few beers down our knecks and watched the stars of the future race. then the swedish lot came on, to young to remeber them!!.

so went and got more alcohol and my 5th trip to the toilet.

6.55 i decided to roll up to my seat and the excitement really hit me.

had a soar throat by the end of race 1!!!.

it was strange as we were sitting in an air horn free zone, (which i didint know about) and still loads of people myself included were using air horns despite the fact all the old boys and girls were giving everyone evil looks.air horn free zone is rubbish you need an air horn to be part of the atmosphere.

Got back to the hotel at about 2 am. after a train from cardiff to bridgend with some very funny welsh boys singing very random songs.

good night very sad when it all had to come to an end.

It was the first time we had arrived on friday evening, but we will be doing the same next year.

What a great GP, how can they keep improving a near perfect event.

To let the juniors race was a brilliant idea.

Jus a mention about the track it seemed the best ever to me all though to slick at the start.

As for the new format i love it.

Good luck to Trick if he continues to dominate the series, i think the tide is changing for the rest of the top guys.

Still didn't meet any forum members that was a shame.

Already booked for next year, BRING IT ON :)

Was a great meeting, and haha at Crump, full throttle, how did Crumpy do again? ;) Only got to meet people I've already met but I saw Steve Shovlar (ginger hair, Poole fan, camera...) and also SCB (the 'I was wrong' Tshirt gave that away a bit!) but was kinda busy sorting soemthing out. Anyway, own up, who said they thought I was a lad? :P

Excellent Grand Prix and great seats right on the start line (middle tier) next to Colin and Troy Pratt, at one point Stonehewer after he was ordered to sit down by the stewards after jesturing at the referee and not far from John Postlethwaite!

Have to say the announcer, the atmosphere and the show was impressive, what was less impressive was the sticky floor in certain places, tip for next year dont wear flip flops unless you want to get stuck to the floor! :P

Regarding the Swedes, I think I know who you were talking about, in an Irish bar after the meeting a bunch of Swedes (around 15) one with a clap hands hat and a couple with a giant flag came in shouting Rickardsson and the one bloke (who despite being legless had better English than most of the Brits) said the police had threatened to arrest him!

Well, I really enjoyed my weekend. I would advise anyone if they are struggling for digs in Cardiff, to try the Travel Inns in Caerphilly - there's a big park and ride at the train station and it's free for train travellers, only £3.10 return, only takes 20 minutes and the last train back is 23.10!

It was lovely to meet again all the forumers I've met before, those who I met for the first time, it was great to meet you and put faces to names (or aliases lol)

As for the meeting, I really enjoyed it, at least I saw it this year (some of you will know what I mean, those that don't, well it was a situation a bit like Steve Shovlar's) plenty of controversy and shocks. I was very disappointed in Leigh Adams, and also Nicki P really, even with the exclusion he didn't do brilliantly. Trick/Norris - hmm...Trick did seem to go to ground very easily IMO. But he rode brilliantly after that, and there was no-one else going to win the final!! I thought Crumpy's first two were harsh, I've seen much worse called back for unsatisfactory starts with all four. The third one was so desperate it was almost funny. I was well impressed with Jarek Hampel, although there was a touch of the Bruce Penhall's in his last qualifying race, when Tomasz Gollob needed the win lol I was on the 3rd bend bottom tier, lots of Poles in there, needless to say very happy ones at that.

I don't like the idea of points scoring to get through to the semis though - if they are going to have it, just have the 20 heats and the highest scorer is the champion, end of. This way means there's too many opportunities if someone makes a mistake early on, I much preferred the "old" format.

Was an awesome day to be fair, by far the best day yet.

Got to the Prince of Wales at 2:45 and got home twelve hours later!

Nice to meet most people I had met before, along with Rico, Vog, Corny, Chivs, Chris Brown etc. I met so many I cannot list everyone!!!

Was a good meeting, though I had four bets on and none reached the final! Ah well maybe next year B)

Only had three beers, Shawn had ten times as many though
