Congratulations Tony Rickardsson

Personally, I hope TRick does equal Mauger's record as it could/should generate some decent publicity.

I am also becoming more and more convinced that TRick may well be the greatest rider ever. Watched the Swedish GP the night before Cardiff and revelled again in that race when he stormed through from last place to first. I can't remember Ivan Mauger coming from last to first in any race in his entire career let alone in a world championship meeting of this calibre.

TRick is the only rider who can raise his game with relentless consistency when it really matters. That compares him with Mauger certainly, but TRick is far more of an all rounder and a true racer.

I fully agree with you back in Maugers day there was no tapes exclusions you could touch em but not break em,if you watch old film of Ivan you will notice he touches the tapes alot and would be half a bike in front when they go up but now its from a standing start no moving until they go up,i think Trick is far superior to Ivan and also Trick is good from the back.Ivan was the king of nudging the tapes sending his closest rivals through the tapes making sure they get excluded for a easier race.I have spoken to a few old boys at exeter who remember alot of this happening.Yes sure Ivan is a legend.

TR is going great this season good luck to him, but if this GP system had been in place when Mauger was at the top of the tree his title successes would have been in double figures, for consistancy Mauger was awesome, dont forget he had to go through lots of difficult one off qualifying rounds in some cases only the top four progresseing to the next round, then come world final night you couldnt afford one slip not the luxury of being world champ without winning a round which is possible now and has been done, remember Mauger having an 11 point plus average for five consecutive years i think it was, cant see that happening again, and look who he was riding against to achieve it, as for never passing anyone i remember at belle vue one time he forgot to turn on his fuel and was passed on the back straight by the three other riders, he turned on the fuel gave chase and won the race, not often from the back i grant you that but he wasnt often at the back to start with, theres his record of league wins with teams he rode for, his long track and WTC succsesses espeacally when riding for GB, TR is a great rider but better than Mauger i dont think so.

But Trick has won one world final individual event and yes no less than 18 grand prix individual events a grand total of 19 and Ivan mauger 6 individual world final events one a year Trick has won 3 events this year so far and a second, also being injured twice this year.So if all those events were world championships he would of been world champion 19 times.I dont think Tony would find it difficult winning one event a year do you.Sorry in my book Tony is best.At least he cant push the tapes like Ivan did tony does his from a standing start.

The way Tony rode last night in the final was unbelievable!!

I was just sat along from the second bend, top tier and it looked as tho he was going to be sucked under the fence but just carried on with the speed and almost rode on top of the bottom of the fence!!

He is in a class of his own and with Crumpy feeling the heat last night with 3 perfectly good exclusions in my view and most of the Cardiff crowd he is feeling the pressure of being World Champion and is back to just how he was a couple of seasons ago when knocking Rune Holta off!!

TRick is on another level - it will take a miracle for him not too win now. Clearly he deserves to be on top, but I think the scoring system needs to be addressed - the gulf between top & bottom is so huge that it will be difficult for the title race not to be over before the last round. Especially now that no points are scored in the semis - another 2 rounds & crump could have sewn up 2nd place, by the time we get to Lonigo, we may only be racing for the top 8 places which doesn't help the series IMO. Not taking anything away from TRick - he is deservedly way out in front, but is it a little too far?
