iris123
Match was changed to Korskro Results Denmark 59 H.Moller (1,2,3,2,1*)9+1 P.Hougaard (3,3,1*,3,2*)12+2 K.Jakobsen (3,0,0,2*)5+1 L.Madsen (1,3,3,3,3)13 S.Andersen (1,1,1,0)3 N.Klindt (3,0,3,3,2)11 J.Kristiansen (1,2*,1,2*)6+2 Sweden 37 E.Andersson (2,3,1*,0,1,0)7+1 R.Kling (0,2,2,0,3,3)10 S.Bengtsson (2,3,1*,2,1,1)10+1 V.Bergstöm (0,0,0,0)0 R/R R.Törnqvist (0,1,2,1)4 R.Pettersson (2,2*,2,0,0,Ret)6+1 Track was wet and with constant drizzle didn't dry out.Meeting suffered consequently and was mostly settled from the gate. Edit:seems i got the result of the last heat wrong and Madsen won,not Hougaard. Have changed it.Must admit to being confused on this as i remember Hougaard shooting from the gate and Madsen was in third place. He made one of the few passes in the meeting and thought it ended that way.Was though distracted by someone asking me in Danish if this was the last heat. Bavarian
Always thought that Korskro is (or rather was) a long-track. Since when do they have a speedway oval?
iris123
Looks to me like it has been there a long time. It's all part of a motorsports complex. The first place i went to was a MotoX track.Luckily i found the speedway track next so didn't have to explore any further And would you believe it,it was free to get in.Was expecting something like 500 people maybe a bit less because of the weather, but there was 50 and most of them were family and friends It has to be about the most basic track i have been too, including A.Essex and Mildenhall, just a big grass bank surrounding the track ala Holsted but without the clubhouse etc at Holsted. The refs box looked like on of those sheds you buy from B&Q/Bauhaus. Was someone next to me filming the meeting.I asked if it was going to be on t.v.She said it was for a local station, but it wasn't about the meeting. It was something on the chairman of the club. Then she added,"It's boring speedway, isn't it!" Steve Turner
Two more countries struggling to find some quality 17 to 19-year-olds...? (not counting Morten Risager of course) I think I've seen most of the lads from this meeting ride somewhere and none stood out as future stars, probably Leon Madsen would be favourite. iris123
Be fair,i think a number are just 16.Patrick Hougaard has impressed the couple of times i've seen him this year and he has only just had his 16th birthday.Bit early to write him off. Also may i add that A.Messing missed the meeting because he was stranded in England. So? Anyway the conditions made it hard to tell one way or the other.Just who was the better gater. Edit:A quick bit of research finds that at least Jakobsen Hougaard Klindt Madsen Andersen(i think) don't know about Kristiansen are all 16 years old so fall outside the 17-19 range. Have no idea about the swedish riders. Edited June 5, 2005 by iris123

Steve Turner
Sorry iris123, I think you missed my point, or I messed it up. These are Under-21 Tests, so why are there so many 16-year-old's ? I'm just looking for the older teens who will be stepping-up to the bigger stage now. I didn't mean to sound like I'd written them off either, I was a bit harsh I guess. I always like to see a good style in young riders, as well as nerve and confidence with the bike. But I sometimes forget that riders can and do change ! Good luck to them all, of course. I can remember Lee Richardson well enough at that age !

iris123
No probs Steve.I was wondering the same myself.I asked for details of the Swedish guys, but got no reply on another thread.I only know the majority were in the 2 tests last year when GB got thrashed in Sweden and a few have qualified from the Nordic U19's.It's always a bit of a problem trying to work out how good riders are if you don't know much about them.Last year another forumer saw a meeting here in Germany and we were both impressed with a guy.Only later did i find out that he was about 4 years older than the rest and when he was riding against his own age group he didn't look half as impressive. The other week i saw a 2nd Division 80cc match at Holsted. There were anumber of good riders there. When i looked at the 80cc ratings, they were around the number 50 or lower in Denmark As it is though, with the current riders both teams have, they only have to get one good rider every 2 or 3 years coming through and the Danish/Swedish side remains too strong for most.If we say Risager is the one in the 17-19 age, then they need one rider in the 14-16 range.Like i say Hougaard has looked good when i have seen him,but the opposition in the German meeting was average. They also have a few younger such as Barrett,Raun,Teglers. It would be good to get them over for a couple of meetings against the young Brits. Pinstripe
Whats the point in this fixture if riders like Bjerre, Lindback, Lindgren, Davidsson etc wont show thier faces?? I expect Kristian Lund deserves a place in the Danish team...he aint going too well but looks better than half the team!
