Could any one going on the swindon coach confirm that it does leave at 1 pm?

Cheers Pete

Has anyone heard to attendance for the meeting a Cardiff tonigt?  40.000+???

38,000+ on the Official website. Have to say it looked more watching the Sky coverage, or do they just spread the crowd out more these days. I think that that is rather a disappointing crowd figure :neutral:

there were a few empty spaces between the crowd,but it was still a grand site to see,and the noise,WOW,we sat right at the back off the 2nd bend,was a grand view,and all the pols around made it even better.Wasnt so drunk this year,just a bit merry ish,managed to fill in all me programe,neetly.Got into bed at 3 am this morning,poxy road works on the M4,there seemed to be more coming home than there was going,or was it just me.

It was clearly the biggest attandance at Cardiff since the GP moved there. Interesting to hear 38,000, when Benfield had already stated they had sold 40,000 by the start of the week.

Whatever the exact figure, it was well up on previous GP's.

Not according to BSI :

2001 = 31,000

2002 = 40,000

2003 = 36,676

2004 - 35,000

They would get more there if they didn't show it on SKY live, the Swedes and Danes are not allowed to broadcast it live, they have to have a 2 hour delay.

Who knows what to believe??!! Old editions of the FIM magazine at the FIM site says:

2001 = 32,000

2002 = 42,000

2003 = 40,000

2004 = 35,251

Yes, a few empty spaces but you don't expect Cardiff to be full like the Football.We was on the 2nd bend, top tier, right up the top! WOW! Great view! The noise was just eletric! You wasn't as drunk as some people :wink: Am proud of you for filling your programme out! Even if i did fill out two heats :lol: Was tired when got back about 3am! You was struggling to stay awake Beercellar :lol: I was alright!

It was certainly packed where we were and I must say, I enjoyed the view from the top tier (we were also on the 2nd bend) but boy am I shattered today, we finally got in at 6am!!

Taken from Speedway World.tv

Saturday's British GP crowd of 38,460 was a new speedway record for the Millennium Stadium, and the biggest turn-out at a meeting in this country since the last World Final staged at Wembley in 1981.

That event, won famously by American hero Bruce Penhall, attracted a crowd of 72,769.

As for worldwide World Championship attendances, Saturday was believed to be the highest since 41,000 watched Hans Nielsen win the 1989 World Final at the Olympic Stadium in Munich.

Tickets sold, don't always correlate with the final attendance.Is a bit funny though that figures for other finals have been stated as higher but 38,000 is now being reported as a record :unsure:
