Guest cheetahhawk
Wouldn't miss Cardiff for all the tea in China, been to every one so far, and it gets better each year. There are usually 5 of us but this year we are bringing 2 more newbies. They have seen speedway on TV and Cardiff will be their first live meeting. AndyM
Well, I'm not going this year, but only because I'll be attending a stag weekend in Cracow. Another seat available for somebody?
Mick Dundee
They did indeed. Customers who suffered the debacle of the Swedish GP in 2003 were offered free tickets to the GP of their choice. Did anyone on the forum take them up on the offer and did you choose Cardiff? Me and my dad took them up on their offer but we ended up getting the free tickets for Gothenburg again last season. I think the attendance will be down slightly, but still huge. I think the novelty will have worn off for a lot of the non hardcore speedway fans and theyll stick to watching it on the tv. I wouldnt miss it for the world, its a unique atmosphere and i only wish i could have made it to wembley to compare the two.
Trees
Hopefully they'll like it and keep coming back Yeah they'll want to go again to Cardiff next season but I bet not to regular league racing, that's a lot of bl**dy good that is! I know of at least 5 people who ONLY go to Cardiff, never attend a british league meeting during the year, there must be hundreds more too! one of clubs
For me personally this will be my second Cardiff weekend, the first one being 2003.The attendance does not really matter that much but we should be looking to increase the attendances year on year. Whether Wembley or Cardiff is the better venue is open to debate but i have to say that for quality of the tracks Wembley just shades it.For all round atmosphere/call it what you will it is Cardiff. This year it is just me and Mrs.One Of Clubs,no kids(courtesy of me sis in law)and it could prove to be better than seeing Bruce Penhall win the title at Wembley in 1981,if that proves to be the case,i will be well happy. Steve Turner
I missed the 2002 GP, but I definitely saw more people there last year than either '01 or '03. And the steward I got chatty with last year said he remembered all the previous ones and was impressed by how many more people came that time He didn't realise there were so many speedway fans in Britain Having said that...I think the crowd will be down this time. Don't know why, just feels a bit muted this time round. I hope I'm wrong though
SCB
Yeah they'll want to go again to Cardiff next season but I bet not to regular league racing, that's a lot of bl**dy good that is! I know of at least 5 people who ONLY go to Cardiff, never attend a british league meeting during the year, there must be hundreds more too! <{POST_SNAPBACK}> I have a friend who has been to a couple of Cardiff GP's but won't go to Newport Steve, Laura says she'll say hi this year, she is catching the train to Cardiff after work and will come and say hi for 5 minutes before going to see the Abba band. Steve Turner
Steve, Laura says she'll say hi this year...for 5 minutes. <{POST_SNAPBACK}> Bless her, but 5 minutes ?! Tell her I'll pick her up from work !
Diesel
I have a friend who has been to a couple of Cardiff GP's but won't go to Newport <{POST_SNAPBACK}> Cant really blame anyone who goes to Cardiff but not League racing at Newport! A professionally run event at one of the worlds premier stadiums, or a match at the somewhat less than plush Stade de Hayley run by a bunch of monkeys and on organgrinder who hasn't the first idea what he is doing! Heck even I can't stomach going to Newport everyweek these days.
sjw ministerofport
We can't wait for Cardiff, every year seems to improve and for us Floppy made last years the best. If Cardiff was a one off World final without TV coverage it would be a sell out every year i'm sure. John P and his team deserve more praise and less criticism, they do a fantastic job. Sky sports coverage is great and again deservr praise. We do go to some speedway matches and enjoy those as well. But Cardiff is about the day and if you are not their no TV coverage can ever compare.
Jenn
Ive not been the last 2 years but im going back this year! Its just not the same watching it at home!!!
iris123
As per usual i won't be going.Waiting for Copenhagen instead. Two advantages there.1.Its easier to get to.2.The place isn't full of welsh people
gav
I am going again not missed one as yet. Here is a first i would have to agree with ss last years crowd was the largest so far, expect about the same this year.
FlyinRyan
I'm taking six people who have never been to Cardiff before. Five of them have never been to Speedway before, I reckon Cardiff is the best place to introduce newcomers to the sport.
buzzybee
im going this year didnt go last year because to be honest me and my dad just didnt fancy it but this year we have the main man to cheer on.....scotty woohoo!!...not that we didnt anyway, but you know i think the attendance will be slightly up this year than what it has been because of the new format. i know a lot of people didnt want to go beacuse the racing has been so ....well....boring, but as the new format has been introduced i think it will be a lot more interesting, and it will be good to see the brits at least 5 times. Paragon
Iris I dont know about having a go at the welsh, but it has to be better than a stadium full of Danes that think Nikki Pedersen is a speedway rider
SwineTown
the atmosphere absolutely fantastic, and the afternoon exploring the bars of Cardiff with thousands of speedway fans a must do. You can stick your Wembley up your a**. Cardiff has it all. <{POST_SNAPBACK}> Agree totally. Got my ticket now. 4 of us going on the coach - even drivers need their beer at Cardiff. Whats odd is that the day is so long, weather usually great and atmos so good that when you finally sit down and the pop act finishes, the riders come out on parade, you suddenly think "sh@t!!- speedway! forgot about that, nice one". Dicey
I'm biased but its one of the premier stadiums in the world and smack bang in the city centre with plenty of pubs to take your fancy . The problem with Wembley was always the location. My only grub is with the travesity of cueing for trains afterwards. Don't forget your ear plugs folks from them fog horns!
