Steve Shovlar
Last years attendance at Cardiff was the biggest of the four that have taken place there, and the biggest speedway crowd in the UK for many years. So do you think the crowd will be up or down on last year? Are you coming to your first Cardiff GP, or are you not bothering this year? Personally I woouldn't miss it for the world. Racing is pretty good, the atmosphere absolutely fantastic, and the afternoon exploring the bars of Cardiff with thousands of speedway fans a must do. You can stick your Wembley up your a**. Cardiff has it all. Even the football fans in the playoffs currently taking place said they would rather go to Cardiff then Wembley. Roll on the two weeks and another TRick victory! Mark Evans
The whole day is excellent. They should be selling out the venue by now. They advertise in the Speedway Star and on sky but people who buy the mag and watch the Sky matches know that it is happening. If you dont buy the mag or watch the Sky matches, where are you going to see it advertised ?.
Graham
I don't particularly care if the attendance is up or down. Neither do I mind if it's not a great meeting. Personally i just enjoy the whole experience, being in the city centre with the atmosphere building, meeting old friends from around the country and playing spot-the-rider. I can't be bothered with people moaning about every little thing. Just sit back, take it in and enjoy it.
Dekker
Racing is pish as is standard for most GPs on indoors tracks but the social side is one of the best things in the season.
pirate paul
Are you coming to your first Cardiff GP? <{POST_SNAPBACK}> Yep, and I can't bloody wait! Will be driving so will have to stick to lemonade but at least I'll be able to remember it
shazzybird
With Mr Loram not riding this year I must admit I was going to take a raincheck on Cardiff but......... Cardiff has to be the highlight of the British Speedway Calender, good friends, fantastic atmosphere and excellent entertainment. Hotel right on the doorstep of the stadium (courtesy of Tabbs) What more could you ask for

Rob B
Last years attendance at Cardiff was the biggest of the four that have taken place there Not according to BSI : 2001 = 31,000 2002 = 40,000 2003 = 36,676 2004 - 35,000 They would get more there if they didn't show it on SKY live, the Swedes and Danes are not allowed to broadcast it live, they have to have a 2 hour delay. Trees
They would get more there if they didn't show it on SKY live, And if "They" were the british authorities so the fans thought they were doing the sport in this country a bit of good by attending! Steve Shovlar
I disagree with those figures Rob. I have been to all of the GPs at Cardiff and last year there were a lot more there than any other year. The top tier had quite a lot of fans on the back straight and there was a clear increase over 2003. Really it should be a sellout or at least increase year on year. Star Lady
Are you accusing BSI of fiddling the figures then Steve?
Subedei
Are the figures not for "paying" customers? Maybe last season BSI handed out a lot more free tickets to sponsors and such like.
Steve Shovlar
Whatever BSI are up to I thought there was more in the stadium last year than previous years.
Mylor
Are the figures not for "paying" customers?Maybe last season BSI handed out a lot more free tickets to sponsors and such like. <{POST_SNAPBACK}> They did indeed. Customers who suffered the debacle of the Swedish GP in 2003 were offered free tickets to the GP of their choice. Did anyone on the forum take them up on the offer and did you choose Cardiff? Robyn1972
First one for me this year, and my Husband is coming along as well so that's 2 more! Can't wait - have heard so much about the whole experience I'm counting the days now!
Splatty
I must admit I went to the stadium expecting for a big increase on 03 but was disappointed - im not suprised by those figures at all Steve - it looked the same as 03 to me I personally think BSI need to take a look at their pricing policy in the weeks leading up to the GP - I see no point in setting the top teir seats at such a high price all the way around the stadium and it would be far better to fill out the stadium than not
Hazzman
I thnk it will come up a bit more in attendance. However, the person who put that Cardiffs racing is not very good. I would put it down as the best GP last season. Edited May 30, 2005 by Hazzman
cpbyles
I thnk it will come up a bit more in attendance. <{POST_SNAPBACK}> It'll definately be up - I'm bringing the wife and my son, two mates and their wives so we're six up on last year already ! Diesel
Usually three of us go (me, the missus and the old man) but this year their will be an extra 3, 2 of whom have never been to speedway before! Hopefully they'll like it and keep coming back.
