SuzieQ
I thought he was injured . <{POST_SNAPBACK}> That is the first post I have read here tonight that has actually made me laugh! Thank you for that!
Rico
Anyone think Jonsson will walk away from Coventry after the last week? <{POST_SNAPBACK}> Anyone think Subedei's vendetta against Jonsson will succeed ? Give the record a rest, it's wearing extremely thin. Rico
Subedei
Okay, my thoughts on the riders individual performances: Adams: Will be disappointed to have dropped out at the semi-final stage, but it's often the way with Adams. Andersen: An improvement on Wroclaw, but still not quite the performance he would have been expecting. Bjerre: Performed very well in his first grand prix and should be well pleased with making the semi-final. Chrzanowski: Did as well as could be reasonably expected. But this level of racing is clearly too high for him. Crump: Had an indifferent grand prix and yet still ended up winning. He'll be happy with the result, but probably not the performance. Was terrific in the semi-final and re-run of the final. Gollob: Looked well off the pace, but still scored a win. He'll not be happy and he needs a good result in Krsko. But Krsko's a power circuit and Gollob doesn't look to have enough. Hancock: Was there, or thereabouts and made the semi-final. Holta: Was there, or thereabouts in all his rides and performed reasonably well. Jonsson: Better not say anything. Lindback: Another super performance by the young fellow. Nicholls: Pretty hopeless really. B Pedersen: Probably the best he's ridden all season. He performed very well and thoroughly deserved his place in the final. Well done to a fellow I've dismissed in the series this year. But needs to build on it. He won in Wroclaw last season and did precious little else. N Pedersen: An eventful grand prix for Nicki Pedersen, as ever. Richardson: Pretty hopeless really. Rickardsson: Was awesome again. Unlucky not to win. Sullivan: A solid showing from Sullivan, but I can't see him getting anywhere this season. Give the record a rest, it's wearing extremely thin. And his pathetic attitude isn't wearing thin? Well, Lincoln said you could fool some of the people all of the time. Edited May 14, 2005 by Subedei
Storming Norman
I thought tonight’s was a real cracker, got better as it went on. The track was rather hard and slick, and early races were generally close but little passing. But over the evening, there was a decent level of passing and racing was nearly always close. Shame Scott touched the tapes for no good reason except perhaps that the Polish ref constantly held the tapes a long time throughout the meeting. Lee R’s 1st ride wasn’t much better as he doesn’t look confident enough to really attack the track or opponents in the corners. Looking lightweight this season, desperately needs fast bikes and his trapping back. Better later rides by Scott. 3 riders touch the tapes in a heat, and the ref immediately excludes Jonsson. Replay shows Lindback who was next to Jonsson rolled first and touched the tapes a fraction before Jonsson who then went straight through them. Jonsson rang the ref who agreed to check his decision on the telly – if he did, how could he not change his decision? Shock horror Greg Hancock spat on camera, though not while being interviewed – does this justify a fine perhaps?? Loramski in the studio with Havvy – a good duo, far better than Johnston & Pearson on commentary who were hopeless, eg taking ages to realise what was happening/who touched the tapes in the Jonsson/Lindback incident. Last ride, Lee R went from 1st to 3rd, his lack of speed almost embarrassing, sadly, plus he sat mid track which was the slowest line – should be experienced enough to avoid basic errors like that now. Nicki Pedersen was very entertaining but went over the top in wiping Bjarne out good and proper and then did himself no favours by grinning profusely afterwards. Clueless "Claud" Pearson talked as though the exclusion might go either way! They must change the rules so races can be awarded. Overall, I enjoyed the format tonight much more than last time. If only our British riders could rise to the occasion.
Skid Mark
Sullivan: A solid showing from Sullivan, but I can't see him getting anywhere this season. <{POST_SNAPBACK}> So 3 points from 5 rides is a solid showing is it?
AndyM
Nicholls: Pretty hopeless really.Richardson: Pretty hopeless really. <{POST_SNAPBACK}> Richardson definitely did look out of sorts, but it's a mean comparison to use the same comment for Nicholls. He looked bright and lively in most of his rides, and was at least passing riders and looking for openings, where Richardson seemed to be going backwards. For all that, he still doesn't seem to have bridged the class gap to where the real winners perform. Should be looking closely at all parts of his game to spot the flaws and be more single-minded about winning.
Rico
And his pathetic attitude isn't wearing thin?<{POST_SNAPBACK}> That is your opinion (and my goodness don't we know it !). I am personally already looking forward to seeing AJ blasting round Krsko Rico
Subedei
Personally, I'm hoping to see the mighty Gollob blasting around Krsko. But he looks desperately short of horsepower and that's something you need quite a bit of at Krsko.
SCB
Just a few small things, I agreed with most of it. Bjerre: Performed very well in his first grand prix and should be well pleased with making the semi-final.2nd GP, 2nd semi-final. Only 20 as well, oh boy is he going to be hard to beat in 5 years time, Nicki will still be going then, as will Bjarne and Hans, Puk will probably be there too and it woud take a very naive person to doubt Morten Risagers ability to make it to the top. These Danes are good. Hancock: Was there, or thereabouts and made the semi-final.I can't say I really noticed him, just seemed to plod along, I think he'll be disapointed after havig such a good seaosn last year. I think you sumed him up very well in your GP review in the winter. Holta: Was there, or thereabouts in all his rides and performed reasonably well.Did what you'd expect, not a lot. Jonsson: Better not say anything.Shocking, he did a Hans Andersen, no doubt will come back with a decent GP next time. Nicholls: Pretty hopeless really.Thats a little harsh, he had some great races, messed up his first ride (tapes) and then let Crumpy re-pass him. B Pedersen: Probably the best he's ridden all season. He performed very well and thoroughly deserved his place in the final. Well done to a fellow I've dismissed in the series this year. But needs to build on it. He won in Wroclaw last season and did precious little else.I knew he'd do well, I think it's because nobody anywhere had even considered him, no pressure and all that. I think he'll mess up the next GP now, as people will expect a reasonable result. Richardson: Pretty hopeless really. Not unlike Scotty, exciting and involved in some good races. His problem was he coudn't gate and well he did he went and let two riders pass him before sticking to the ones back wheel, why didnt he go that fast when he was in front. Sullivan: A solid showing from Sullivan, but I can't see him getting anywhere this season. The guy has lost "it", how has he gone from a serious contender in a GP to a rider who you can't even imagine winning a heat. A superb GP, I bet nobody can say they didn't enjoy, even with the "crap" format thats not crap!
BritPete
It has to be said, the posts of BilaHora are getting VERY tiresome.
salty
Excellent Gp on the whole which just got better and better. Trick was unlucky that he didn't win the re-run of the final but credit to Crumpy for overtaking him. Nicki Pedersens move on Bjarne was indefensible as was his lack of concern for the fellow countryman that he had just fenced. The only annoying thing was that he lost no points because of the manouvre, which was probably why he tried it. Can't agree that Scotty was hopeless, he featured in some of the best races and I can see him improving again in 2 weeks time.
rabbit
So 3 points from 5 rides is a solid showing is it? <{POST_SNAPBACK}> I thought it quite a generous comment too. Personally thought Sullivan was awful. His form has been quite good for us recently although Thursday night pre-GP was not so hot. If it was GPitis it didn't work very well. Nicki Pedersens move on Bjarne was indefensible as was his lack of concern for the fellow countryman that he had just fenced. The only annoying thing was that he lost no points because of the manouvre, which was probably why he tried it. <{POST_SNAPBACK}> Very true although the Danes are saying he did seem to apologise to Bjarne afterwards so we maybe don't know the whole story. Having said that, the 'interesting' moves are coming thick and fast from Nicki and somehow I think it might just end in tears at some stage during the season the way it's going. Makes for great talking points...but someone is going to get hurt someday very soon. I have to say that much as I like the controversy I dread one of our riders being out in the same race as him, and i'm relieved when it's over. That's not really supposed to be the way it is! Liontamer
I'd still much rather watch Nicki P racing his heart out for 4 laps than TRick leaving everyone for dead race after race which is bloody boring. & please don't think I'm having a go at Tony because he's certainly a class act & his last to first race was pretty impressive to say the least. Splatty
first of all....just to get it out of the way so I dont go on about it.....and i'm sorry about this....but.......watch out Nicki and Hans are about!!! Right from the off they were going for the man and not the track! Hans dangerously changed his line down the backstraight in ht7 to stuff Rico - ht10 Nicki went for Leigh - ht20 Nicki puts a dodgy move on Jason but has his bluff called -2nd semi final Adams the victim again as Hans rides at him - Nicki wipes out Bjarne in the final (wasn't even close to being subtle and anyone think it was tactics as it was 3rd bend lap 3??!) Entertaining TV it is but sensible and sportsmanlike riding it aint - this season is going to be interesting! for the boring Nicholls knockers out there he was mighty close for someone who was gating badly - I reckon if viewed again there wont be many who made more passes (not sure he would have scored any in his first though as gate 3 was a dog) p.s. he's in the top 8 I was a bit suprised at the 2nd picks in the semis and final going for yellow (even though they paid off in the semis) as the stats up to that point were: gate 1 9 heat wins and 49 points gate 2 6 heat wins and 31 points gate 3 1 heat win and 10 points gate 4 4 heat wins and 36 points which also shows how good Crumpy's win proved to be the 4 riders with two gate 3's were: Lee Richardson Tomasz Gollob Tomasz Chrzanowski Kenneth Bjerre full power to Kenneth for making the semi
lupus
To Garf and the others who said that Nicki went to apologise to Bjarne afterwards can I just ask....Does this make what Nicki did okay then? If someone ran into your car either deliberatly or at the very least becasue they were driving dangerously, would YOU accept a simple apology? Be honest now! No-one has commented either that Nicki (with sly grin on his face) still tried to place some of the blame on Bjarne. He said something like "I saw a gap and had to go for it and Bjarne dropped down on top of me!" Where and when was that then? That wasn't what I saw - especially from that one angle. Bjarne must have wondered what the hell had hit him. THIS is spot on Rabbit - it's all very well saying it's entertaining to watch Nicki race but personally I'd rather NOT see someone get badly hurt or worse!!!!!! Liontamer
I certainly don't want to see anyone hurt but I still maintain Nicki's a speedway RACER who always gives 100% in every race. This is the world championships & he wants to be world champion...AGAIN. Go Nicki P

Paleco
It wasn"t fair for AJ. Crump and Tricky... i think one of them will be champion! I suggest a nickname for N. Pedersen: "Nick the sick"! See ya guys in Krško!
EdwardKennettRacing
Nicki may have agreed with his exclusion but I didn't hear him inquire after the health of Bjarne, and that stupid grin he had on his face, you could just throttle him grrrrrrrrr <{POST_SNAPBACK}> You don't know that Nicki didn't go over! He might have seen him after the meeting! Atleast the Danes did better than Lee Richardson
